According to a very well connected poster on BOL. Saban didnt have any good reason for not being honest with Jayson Jones either, but he wasn't honest with him.
You mean the same well connected poster who thought we would sign Arik, McKinnely and Ennis?
I'm not believe clout chasers over the man who says clearly we were taking 25. We took 27 last year so it wasn't like we left openings on the table.
On everything Saban could say the sky is blue, "insiders" will say it's red and people will believe them over the actual source.
I guess I'm not surprised anymore by VolTiger's influence. Someone should make a troll insider account on BOL just for the laughs.

Nope. He doesn't make predictions.

I saw what Saban said. I dont need your spin on it. You're free to believe whatever you want. So am I.

Everyone is... just like with VolTiger and his followers.
In the end, I believe Saban's words which were backed up by his actions.
Also, I didn't spin shite.
You on the other hand called the man a liar attempting to spin his direct quotes instead of taking them for what it was.
We could only sign 25.

How do Saban's actions of diligently recruiting Jackson and Rakestraw backup your apparent belief that he didn't intend to let them sign a Bama NLI? Was Saban just in the mood to waste a lot of time and money on that just for grins?
Of course not. We actually could've signed 27.

I'm starting to feel this isn't really about Alabama recruiting and analyst and really about VolTiger.

If I remember correctly Jay Barker was the back up and everybody wanted him to start over Casey Weldon but coach DiNardo would never play him.

I had forgotten about that
Who hires Dinardo?.

If we were getting Rakestraw or Jackson perhaps we would not have signed one or two of the three that signed today. That way we would still be at 25.

Maybe. You got to think that Saban knew that Jackson wasn’t going to sign by at least the night before. Also, he likely knew that Ennis was signing with Missouri. So, maybe he knew that they were only going to sign 25 (with Jones not signing) which explains his comment. It’s not like he hasn’t “stretched the truth” with the press before.
IMO if either Barker and Burroughs don’t qualify, then I think we could’ve signed more than 25 because those two slots are gone if they don’t qualify. If they do qualify, then I think we could not have signed more than 25.

Unless Coach Drinkwitz is a fabulous actor, Rakestraw hadn't told him that he was coming to Mizzou and Drink didn't look like he thought he was picking them.
That doesn't mean he didn't tell the Bama and Texas staffs but it seems unlikely.

I obviously don't follow recruiting closely because I'm just now realizing we only signed 3 OL and 3 DL. Seems light so I'm assuming it will be a focus to get numbers there in the 2021 class?

I think we can be fine with singing 3 DL in the 2021 class, as we'll still have 10 solid players at the position on scholarship. In terms of OL, my guess is the staff will want 5 as we'll be kind of thin at that group. OL should be an easy sell as we'll need guys to step in and contribute right away.
