Maye might be a tough one to keep. If Young shows out this year, Maye will likely be headed to NC.

He might go elsewhere, but I don’t believe it will be UNC. I could be wrong, but he’ll play at a major school.

His family has deep roots with UNC. His dad played there. His brother won a Natty there in BBall.

Iirc, Bama's first Junior Day is Feb 1st.

When Drake Maye committed, he was was well aware that Bama was recruiting Bryce Young. He's also been actively recruiting for Bama on social media. If Young starts his frosh thru junior (2020-22) seasons and then enters the NFL draft, Maye could start as a redshirt soph in 2023.

Yea I know, but he had a brother play baseball at Florida. I believe they want to win championships and he won’t do that with UNC football

McKinnley Jackson, 4-star DT, Lucedale, MS

Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M appear to be leading down the stretch with Auburn working to stay in the hunt. Really if you’ve been following it as of late, the feeling is the Tide or the Aggies will be the pick on National Signing Day at 9:30 a.m. CT. Jackson has one more official visit on deck to College Station this weekend. He was in Tuscaloosa the weekend prior. There’s been confidence on the Alabama end off and on throughout the last year. The addition of Freddie Roach to the staff certainly helps UA’s efforts in potentially signing the state of Mississippi’s top player. Alabama head coach Nick Saban will go in home with the All-American DL Thursday.

Alfred Collins, 4-star SDE, Bastrop, TX

Another three-team race, this one between Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas, will be decided on National Signing Day at 3:50 p.m. CT. The Longhorns have long been thought to have the edge in this recruitment considering proximity to home and his family ties to the UT program, but the Crimson Tide and Sooners have definitely given the new 247Sports five-star defensive lineman pause. Nick Saban visited with Collins and his family last Monday. New D-line coach Freddie Roach was in Tuesday to visit with the All-American. No visits are expected this weekend for Collins, who already used his five officials prior to the Early Signing Period.

Ennis Rakestraw, 3-star CB, Duncanville, TX

Rakestraw told BamaOnLine that the Crimson Tide was his top school after his official visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend. Missouri and Texas are also in the hunt, among others. The rising DB will be in Austin this weekend for his final official visit before announcing a decision on National Signing Day. The main question here will be if Alabama has space or not, considering the limited number of spots left to use relative to Alabama’s remaining needs.

Note: Hank told me Rakestraw has a green light.

Sedrick Van Pran, 4-star OC, New Orleans, LA

Alabama worked to stay involved in the Georgia OL commit’s recruitment and had success in doing so, getting the Bayou State standout on campus for an official visit the first weekend out of the Dead Period. Van Pran officially visited Georgia last weekend, and despite the Bulldogs’ loss of O-line coach Sam Pittman to Arkansas, Van Pran appears firm with UGA.

"Georgia is still a great place to be," Van Pran told Dawgs247’s Kipp Adams after his visit to Athens. "There were obviously coaching changes, but at the end of the day, Georgia is still a great place to be. I was comfortable at Georgia before and I am comfortable at Georgia now. I have been committed to Georgia for so long now, everyone is worried about me flipping. I am a man of my word, I will leave it at that."

The four-star OL is still expected to officially visit Florida this weekend, so we’ll keep tabs on him.

Carl Tucker, UNC grad transfer TE

Alabama hosted the UNC grad transfer tight end this past weekend and emerged the frontrunner for his services. Tucker doesn’t plan to arrive on campus at his next stop until the summer. He has already graduated from UNC. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

“The biggest thing was how I would be used in the offense, what my role would be,” he said of what questions he had for the coaches. “Alabama has great players, and they see something in me to contribute to that offense, which is really cool.”

Commits

Alabama has four commits still in the mix. Don’t expect any changes from Damieon George. The new 247Sports four-star OL is locked in with the Tide. Jayson Jones was in Oregon last weekend for an official visit, which I’m told went well. There has been confidence on the Ducks side coming out of the weekend. Will he go that far from home for college? I think that remains to be seen. Georgia Tech will be in-home tonight. He had been set to officially visit Ole Miss this weekend, but I’m told that trip is off. Whether or not Jones sticks with the Tide remains to be seen, but he won’t sign a National Letter of Intent next Wednesday if he does. Javon Baker and Jamil Burroughs are still working to clear academic hurdles. If both are good to go, expect both to sign with UA. Baker may officially visit Georgia Tech this weekend. Burroughs has shut his recruitment down.

I haven’t seen it reported anywhere else but someone is claiming 5* WR Agiye Hall will be announcing his commitment March 14th and Bama will be one of his OV’s before he announces:
quote:

#1 WR in the nation for 2021 Agiye Hall has his commitment date set for March 14th. He will be officially visiting some schools in that time and Alabama will be one of those schools. Expect Alabama to have Hall on campus as an official visitor mid February to early March. #RTR

So Rakestraw dropped the visit to UGA to take the visit to UT?

Emeka Egbuka, Mario Williams, and Ketron Jackson are the guys id like to have at WR. My favorite recruit is Xavien Sorey...put that kid at safety he can do it all.
