So what do we know about this UNC TE? Good chance we take him? How good is he? More of a blocker or a receiving threat?

I know we want him.. he is a good mix. Blocker/receiver. He was listed as an Ath when recruited. Tucker caught just five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown this season as he battled through an injury he suffered to Clemson early in the season. If he can stay healthy he would be a great pickup.

From reading up on him he seems like an athletic guy who was hurt a lot and was never really able to consistently get involved.

I'd guess our coaches saw him on film and thought if he stayed healthy he could contribute some, and if we had an extra scholarship for 2020 it might be worth the flier.

I'm thinking maybe we couldn't let Malachi Moore enroll early because we knew we needed that last spot for Tucker? Hope we take him, looks like he would be solid player for us.

Getting Jackson would be a huge way to close out this class. I believe he's going to be an absolute animal on the DL.

From what I'm hearing, George has already signed and Jayson Jones will likely not be in this class. Any feeling on Burroughs and Baker? If I'm reading the tea leaves correctly it feels like Burroughs may have a spot and Baker may not? Is Rakestraw potentially taking Baker's spot?

Both the JBs have academic issues. They seem confident they will make the grades, but who knows?

I think its looking pretty likely that Bama might land Jackson and Rakestraw.

It's also looking more likely that Jayson Jones might flip. GaTech has been a contender for him for a while. He took an OV to Baylor last weekend and has OVs to Oregon this weekend and Ole Miss on Jan 31, the last weekend before NSD.

Hank is working on finding out if Bama has any real shot at flipping Van Pran following his OV to Bama last weekend.

Bama will need to feel pretty good about Baker's and Buroughs' grades and ACT scores before they'll get NLIs to sign. If not, Bama would likely just save signing spots for them to join the class after qualifying. I doubt Bama will risk losing the signing spot(s) if there's serious risk of them being non-qualifiers who'd have to go to juco. We might have to just wait and see if they get to sign on NSD.

Tbh, I don't know whether Carl Tucker is much, if any, better than the TEs we have now. Unless he clearly is, I kinda doubt Bama will spend a spot on him. From what I've seen reported and posted by Hank, a main purpose of his visit to Bama this weekend appears to be to evaluate him and decide whether to offer and push for him.

I just read where Tucker won’t enroll right away with who he goes with. I can see that being a deal breaker if he won’t change that. Maybe Bama plans to change that. If you’re a grad transfer you need to be enrolled for spring.

Yeah, I saw that and agree. And even if Tucker did enroll in time for spring practice, I'm still not convinced Bama wants to spend a signing/initial counter spot (that could be used for a 2021 early enrollee recruit) to add Tucker for only one season.

Tight End (5-7)

JR: M Tennison*
SO: J Billingsley, C Latu*, LINK ]M Parker*
FR: C Clark

It might be better to focus on developing the TEs we have and on recruiting 1-2 TEs in the 2021 class. As I said above, Bama is apparently evaluating him this weekend and deciding whether they want to offer and push for him
