Hey played in 5 games. You sure he's getting a redshirt?
quote:
The nation’s top-rated placekicking recruit ... earned the starting job for the Tide during fall camp and has played in five games, missing the Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Arkansas contests due to injury ...
And I think the 5th game was just for one punt, which will really suck if that costs him a year

Since Reichard's injury occurred before his 5th game and that one punt attempt clearly shows he was unable to play due to the nature of his injury, I think he'll easily get a waiver to redshirt.

I would assume Moses is technically a redshirt junior, Surge. Since he didn’t play a down his junior year.
I also couldn’t believe when I saw Knott on there as a RS-Sr. Given his health issues, I would have swore he had been on campus 2 or 3 years.
He was in the same class with Jonah, Raekwon, Mack, Q, Lewis, Diggs, and Jalen!

it would be a medical redshirt and wouldn’t apply for that just yet.
Posted on 1/7/20 at 6:58 am to CapstoneGrad06
Why would it be a medical? He didn’t play any. He missed the whole year and hasn’t redshirted before.

Does anybody wanna give me the rundown on how good/what type of players our 3 WR coming in are gonna be?
Jones-Bell
Holden
Baker

Because assuming Moses plays all of 2020, he’s not coming back. So there would be no reason to apply. Otherwise he would apply for a medical redshirt.
This is no different than Hightower in 2011. He was injured for the season in 2009. But never applied for a medical redshirt. Just completed his eligibility.

This is just my opinion, but Jones-Bell is Waddle-Lite, Holden is a tall guy with long speed who strikes me as one of those dudes who is either going to put on some weight but keep his straight line speed and become a beast or end up becoming a slowish possession receiver, and Baker is Kevin Norwood.

I think the Medical Redshirt was done away with in 2918. You just have redshirts (4 games or less) and Medical Hardship waivers (additional 6th year like McMillion).
I dont think there is anything to apply for if you play 4 games or less. Its automatic now.
And I'm still not sure Reichard is getting a redshirt. I think he lost that ability when he played in his 5th game.
I'm going off articles I've read. Anybody know for sure?

Ask Farrell: How should final 2020 QB rankings shake out?
quote:
There are going to be heated discussions all week in the final rankings meetings for the 2020 class, but one that could stand out more than others is what to do at quarterback.
Currently, Clemson signee D.J. Uiagalelei is ranked second nationally and he had a strong showing during the All-American Bowl week. He had a game-high in passing yards and he’s a 6-foot-5, 245-pound standout with a huge arm and special abilities.
Sitting third in the rankings is Alabama signee Bryce Young, who also had a terrific week at the All-American Bowl, especially in the game, where he threw two first-quarter touchdowns, including a 75-yard strike on the first play of the game.
After dominating the first quarter, the West coaches dialed Young back a lot for the rest of the game or he could have had even bigger numbers. Young threw only nine passes all game; Uiagalelei had 25 pass attempts.
The other debate that’s going to happen throughout the rankings week is whether there are any other five-star quarterbacks in this class.
The top contender is Tennessee signee Harrison Bailey, who completed nearly 70 percent of his passes in his senior season for 4,674 yards with 50 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for three scores. However, Bailey did not participate in the All-American Bowl week because of injury.
The only other five-star quarterback candidate heading into the all-star games was possibly Ohio State signee CJ Stroud. However, it’s probable that he didn’t do enough during the week to warrant another major bump in the rankings after moving up to No. 41 the last time around.
FARRELL'S TAKE
With the final rankings upon us, we ask National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell what he would argue for at the quarterback position, between the rankings of Uiagalelei and Young and whether Bailey should be awarded his fifth star even if he didn’t play in the All-American Bowl?
“I was for Bailey getting his fifth star the last time we met and nothing has changed for me. I think he has a chance to be special at the next level and beyond, and I love the maturity and leadership he showed this season. I don’t care if he had to miss the all-star game. He’s a five-star to me.
"As for the others, I would put Young ahead of Uiagalelei right now, but I wouldn’t separate them by more than a spot or two. They each bring different things to the table and are certainly a contrast in many ways, but they are both winners with great upside. They’ll both have great careers in college and beyond.”

SIMMONS: Takeaways from UA All-America week
quote:
I do not see Jayson Jones ending up in Tuscaloosa. The lineman out of Calera, Ala. is set to officially visit Baylor January 17, then Oregon the following weekend. Georgia Tech had him on campus over the summer for an official visit and Ole Miss has started to talk with him too. He has talked about Alabama liking him more on the offensive side of the ball and that he could possibly be a Blue Shirt there, so although his love for the in-state school is strong, the opportunities to play defense at other schools will likely lead him elsewhere. Who pushes for Jones? That is the biggest question. Could it be the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta? What about the Ducks? Could the bears make a late push? This is one to watch.

All-American Bowl: Stock report after the week in San Antonio
quote:
STOCK UP
quote:
There may not have been a player who made a more convincing case for a rankings bump than William Anderson, who may be in line for the biggest leap of any prospect in the country. Anderson was unstoppable during 1-on-1s, flashing a high motor, elite burst off the ball, a spin move and the ability to simply bull-rush tackles with ease. That continued into the All-American Bowl, where he notched a sack and two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

All-American Bowl Week: Schools that should be pleased
quote:
Alabama
Perhaps the biggest eye-opener this week in San Antonio was the performance by William Anderson. He’s currently ranked as the No. 159 player in the country, but made a case as a Rivals100 prospect with how he performed not only in the practices, but in the game itself. Anderson had one sack and a pair of tackles for loss in the All-American Bowl and looks to be the next great pass-rusher in Tuscaloosa.
Fellow Alabama signees Jamil Burroughs, Brian Branch and Bryce Young were also outstanding throughout the week. Young led the West squad with six completions for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
