I'd be happy with landing LINK ]Jahmyr Gibbs. We're in good spot with him, but that might not hold up if UGA decides to offer and push for him. Gibbs has two more Bama visits upcoming — one for the WCU game and his OV, likely in December.

They can offer him more money, but if an NFL team comes a calling...he gone. There are several abysmal teams that might be willing to take that chance.

I would be too.. I wasn't a fan of Zach due to the off the field issues. I think he is a transfer portal waiting to happen. I like Gibbs a lot and he seems like a grounded kid that will work. I have been wrong before such as Alfonso

LINK ]Bryce Young talks return to Bama, thoughts on Tide's 2020 class (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

“It was a great atmosphere. Obviously you always want your team to win, but for me to go out there and see one of those primetime, packed games, that was my first time being able to do that at Alabama. It definitely got me fired up. I’m excited to be up there in a few months."

Not that there's any real question concerning it, Young did reaffirm his standing with UA, adding that flipping from USC was not something he nor his family took lightly. "It was a long process and involved a lot of prayer, a lot of thought, a lot of discussion within my family... I’m 100% going to Bama.”

“I definitely felt like I was able to get closer to some of the guys that I hadn’t met before and spend some time with some guys I definitely wanted to... I got a chance to sit down and talk with Arian and Darnell... It was a packed recruiting room, which was great to see. It was fun to be a part of it.”

“I definitely have a lot of confidence in our recruiting class. Our coaches are doing a great job of recruiting. We as commits have also been helping with recruiting. Whenever someone comes and gets to see the atmosphere and gets to sit down and be around the coaching staff, I feel like it’s very, very hard for recruits not to fall in love with how good of a school it is.”

LINK ]Five-star TE breaks down Bama official visit (247Sports | segments)

5* TE Darnell Washington 6-7.5/261 NV hudl
quote:

“Bama was a fun visit for me, just to be able to go out there and see them compete. They made some mistakes and didn’t win the big game, but overall it was still a fun visit. They didn’t use their tight ends much because their starter is out with an injury. I obviously take that into consideration and know they have big plans for the position in the future. I know how they used Irv Smith and OJ Howard, and I know they will use one when they’ve got a good one.

“It was cool to be able to hang out with Bryce and talk about West Coast guys headed down to the South to play for some big programs. I know what he’s capable of on the field, what he brings to the table as a quarterback, so it was fun to just chat. I know he'd help me if I went there and I’d help him. It’d be a win-win situation for both of us to play together.

“Honestly, before the visit I wasn’t considering Bama as much, but now that I’ve been there again and heard what the coaches had to say, it was an eye opener. Bama could be a top option for me, definitely up there. I know I have to let this visit sink in.”

Note: He's planned to announce at the UA All America Game in Jan, but might move it up to Dec. 12, his mother’s birthday.

LINK ]Top100 WR Arian Smith talks Alabama OV
(BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

4-star WR Arian Smith 6-1/170 FL hudl

“It went really well. I loved the feel of the game. A lot of throwing.” Tide safety Jordan Battle hosted the elite pass catcher. “He’s from Florida, too. He was coming from an experience standpoint. Alabama, it’s not just about winning, it’s about player development. They’re going to teach you a lot of things.”

Bama QB commit Bryce Young spent time with Smith. “It was cool. I like him, He’s a cool kid. We talked about each other’s programs and a little bit about why he chose Alabama.” Smith added that having a QB like Young in the class helps Alabama in his recruitment. The two plan to stay in contact.

One of the highlights of the visit Smith says was having dinner with Jeff Banks, his primary recruiter, and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins. He also spent time with the Tide’s head track coach. “Coach Banks, he’s cool. We talk almost every day. Coach Wiggins, I like how he keeps it real... Coach Saban was telling me I'd be a perfect fit for the program. I'd have a good chance to play early since they’ve got three wide receivers most likely leaving — Ruggs, Smitty and Jeudy. Plus I would be able to do track still.”

Smith’s finalists are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma. The Bulldogs were trending coming out of summer. Clemson offered in September and has surged among the favorites as well. The Tide is the only official visit Smith has taken to this point. “They stand probably like No. 2 or 3. It bounces around. I’m thinking the second national signing period,” Smith said of a commitment.

If we are number 2 or 3 with Arian.. who is his top choice? UGA? Florida? Really don’t want to be the bridesmaid again.. we need him.

We do need to grab some high end receivers to finish out the class, but I think Young is the best player in the class overall and he’s coming here. It’s good to keep things in perspective, and when you have a player like that coming in at QB, your program isn’t going anywhere. He will compete for the starting job next season. Might not win it in fall camp, but it’s only a matter of time. He’s a special QB

Also like to add that I think we’ve got some good players at WR on the bench. Metchie was especially impressive in the spring. I think it’s safe to assume that the top 3 are gone at the end of the season and I think they’ll all go in the first round.

With Young coming in and Jeudy, Ruggs and Smith leaving it seems to me Jarrett and Smith should be itching to come on board. They'd both likely get to play a lot as freshmen, maybe even be the other two starters along with Waddle. Jarrett is college ready now, Smith should be ready for starting no later than 2021.

These young WR's have a chance to come in and start from day 1 at one of the premier CFB programs playing with the #1 QB in the nation in Young. They'd be crazy not to jump on the opportunity.
