Oh come on. Don't over react. He's the best tight end in the class, but let's not act like we build our offense around tight ends

Most people dont seem to realize that kids sometimes dont want to wait to play.!
LSU can almost guarantee a starting spot.
There top 2 TE's are going to be seniors next yr.
When you compare him picking a bama with us then having 3 freshmen in 2020 even-though 19 will be a red shirt freshmen.
That's not factoring in both Miller Forristall sr, Latu jr and Tennison a jr.
Also to be Honest I dont know why 19 is not getting time seeing that he is a way more receiving threat than both Miller and Major.
I do understand the blocking perceptive but like Irv career at bama. he made up for it with his receiving.
I think depth chart was the factor in this one.
We will see if it sticks ?

We don't have a single scary receiving threat tight end of the roster right now.

Gilbert would be playing next year at Alabama. He's OJ Howard. He ain't sitting beyond Tennison and Forristall.

That shite’ll buff out.

It would have been nice to get him but 1 player is not going to make or break us.

We hope so, but he clearly isn't there yet.

It's not some sort of death blow but he's a better tight end prospect than anybody on our roster and our current depth chart would not be any sort of concern to a kid like that.

Losing out on him sucks.

He might not care about depth charts and he just liked things at LSU better. He's a really good tight end, but he's a tight end.

brother I agree with you 100 % but that not what LSU was selling.
Also if that the case why is 19 sitting behind miller and Tennison ?
I get 19 should not be starting but like Irv he should be used for the receiving threat routes.
keep in mind last year vs LSU we attacked greedy and the other corner because dalpuit was occupied by IRV.
remember we caught Dalpuit looking and Irv ran a good corner route on him for the score.
Miller nor Tennison are not that same threat and that's why I would like to see 19 or latu get some run.

19 isn't the immediate day 1 contributor that Gilbert will/would be. Irv wasn't either in year 1.

Gilbert = OJ Howard, 19 might = Irv (which would be great)

I hate that it came at Bama's expense, but I absolutely love the fact that all the "experts" have egg on their face. Makes my day

When you think of Miami and the run they had with TEs, it's really impressive. Bubba Franks to Jeremy Shockey to Kellen Winslow II to Jimmy Graham.

I still think that Drew Sanders will end up at tight end. I know he wants to play linebacker, but, we don't always get what we want
