He did not.

Did the other two with him make it? If they did it would certainly be strange that he wouldn't want to come, especially if we are supposedly his leader.
Don't you think?

Davis and Banks visited Bama yesterday. Evans visited Bama for several days in early June and then visited LSU, ATM and UGA last Thur - Sat. I think all three traveled together to LSU and ATM, but Evans flew round trip to visit UGA.

I don't think it's a big deal that he didn't make it. Evans already likes Bama A LOT. I think it was mainly that he wanted to check out LSU, ATM and UGA. Meeting the coaches, players, and recruits face-to-face at all of his other top schools are steps he's planned to take in order to reach his decision. I'm glad he got that knocked out this early. It might lead to him making a commitment sooner rather thsn later.

The last thing Evans drew before he talked to 247Sports was a bird. Evans saw it and wanted to replicate it. He loves animals. Wolves were always his favorite, but he’s proud of an elephant he mastered – even if nobody will ever see it.

after reading that, and i'm just guessing, but i'll be surprised if evans dont end up at whatever school was his grandpaw's favorite. i didnt read the entire article to see if evans told which school his grandpaw favored.

It's a long article, but worth reading. It can give you a pretty good feel for how he's handling his recruitment and what will impact his decision. Number-1 is that he'll make his own decision, regardless of what his family members want him to do. Number-2 is that if he feels he's been fed BS by a coach recruiting him, then that school is very unlikely to get him. Saban and his staff don't BS recruits, but the other contenders do. Those two key things bode well for Alabama, imo.

I agree and after reading that I wonder what coaching staff he considers trash.

5-star TE Arik Gilbert 6-5.5/253 GA hudl

Dawgs247 mod Rusty Mansell flipped his CB pick from UGA to Foggy. Gilbert visited UGA's spring game and for one afternoon in late June. He's visited Tennessee a few times with his HS teammate QB Harrison Bailey (UT commit) and went to Clemson's cookout last Friday. Gilbert and his fanily spent the rest of last weekend at Bama. He's only taken 1 OV so far (Bama in June), has no other OVs scheduled and has said he might commit in September.

ETA: Gilbert says October decision more likely.

ETA: Per 08/17 GoVols247-VIP article:
quote:

He traveled to Tennessee in January for the Vols’ first junior day of the year, and he visited them again in May for their paintball event. “I think that was the last time I went up there,” Gilbert said.

Gilbert is one of the guys I'd most like to see at Bama in this class. He would be a huge get and set us up at TE for years to come.

I wonder who is higher on the board between Gilbert and Washington.

Me too. Perfect fit for our offense. He'd likely start as a true fresman and be a 1st round pick if he comes to Bama.

I could be wrong, but I think it's Gilbert. He's plenty tall and is quicker, more fluid and more athletic than Washington. Bama is recruiting Washington hard, but it appears they're pushing harder for Gilbert.

I get that impression, too. Gilbert seems to be more of a complete player, but I'd be thrilled with either. Washington is more raw, but his combination of size and speed reminds me of O.J. Howard. I was impressed with both of their tapes.

Have to have Gilbert or Washington. Gilbert seems to be the better athlete but Washington's size is behemoth. He can intimidate defenders by his sheer presence.
Either would be a home run.
