Top targets most likely to commit soon:
4-star DB/WR Joel Williams 6-1.5/180 LA hudl
-- Appears on the verge of announcing any day.
4-star ATH Kristian Story 6-1/206 AL hudl
-- Announcing July 18.
4-star ILB Jordan Banks 6-1/228 CA hudl
-- Came to the cookout and camp last weekend. Bama has been his leader since the June 2018 cookout. Hank told me he has a green light to commit, but also said in his post-visit article that Banks is targeting a late Nov decision. I don't see why he'd wait until then, putting himself at risk of Bama running out of room for him.
5-star RB Zachary Evans 5-11/200 TX hudl
-- Has said he may commit before FB season.
4-star ATH Reggie Grimes 6-4.5/240 TN hudl
-- Sept-20 OV to Bama set.
ETA: The 5 above would put Bama at 26 commits, plus Bama will also likely land DL Jaquelin Roy = 27 commits, which I think is the max Bama can sign.
I think Bama will probably add an elite WR, and Worsham will probably flip somewhere for a better chance of playing time.
If Bama lands Darnell Washington in addition to Grimes, I think Caden Clark will also flip for a better chance of playing time.
If Bama lands another high-ranked DL in addition to Roy, I think Jayson Jones (or maybe Latham) would flip for a better chance of playing time.
No doubt, Bama will also pursue QB Bryce Young (USCw commit) and ILB Justin Flowe (USCw lean), but I think Urban Meyer will be USC's new HC by early Dec., if not sooner, and then those two will go to USC.

Malik Hornsby de-committed from North Carolina.

Carolina really made a horrible hire. Mack was a good coach, but I think this is a big mistake

You may be right. Maybe Satterfield from Appalachian St would've been a better hire.

If he tries to "recruit" at UNC the way he did at Texas it's going to be like self-imposed sanctions. As I understood it his policy on recruiting at Texas was effectively calling the kids they wanted into his office after their spring camps, presenting them with a scholarship offer and saying "This is an offer from Texas and you can take it or leave it right now. If you decline it, good luck to you elsewhere. If you take it we'll see you next summer." That shite might work on some Texas kid who grew up dreaming of competing for 4th place in the Big 12, but it won't fly at a basketball school like UNC.

Yea, I heard he got extremely lazy recruiting at Texas. You get lazy at UNC and you won't win a game

In no way am I hard up to defend old Willie Mack but let him stink it up a season before we come down on him
. He had a solid 2019 recruiting close including flipping the number 3 QB prospect from FSU late in the cycle and this class was number 10 before Hornsby decommitted. On paper I don't think he looks bad so far, mainly cause he hasn't coached a game
. I am picturing a similar Spurrier/USC flameout but over a shorter period of time.

Damn, Hank just put in a CB for Nadab Joseph to Bama. Where are we going to fit all these guys?

I'm very interested on where Nadab Joseph ends up after all of UGA's shennigans during his initial recruitment. Hopefully he has everything together and gets his shot playing on the big stage.

I just checked out Hank's thread on his CB for Joseph. Hank is very confident in that CB pick. Joseph didn't play and redshirted his freshman season at juco to focus on getting his academics in good shape. So, he'll have 3 years of eligibility after playing this season at juco. He's a take (stud) even in addition to Williams and Story. A couple of insiders said that if Bama takes those three, Javier Morton would likely decommit. They said Morton is pretty good, but not as good as Branch, Moore, Robinson, Williams, Story and Joseph -- not at the level to stand a good chance of ever starting at Bama.

What did UGA do that was shady? I thought he was just a definite non-qualifier and they were the only school that actually sent him a LOI to sign.
Posted on 6/25/19 at 3:19 pm to Robot Santa
Bama knew it was very unlikely he could qualify, was honest with him about that and therefore wouldn't give him an NLI to sign. UGA mislead him -- told him they could help him get qualified and convinced him to sign with them.
ETA: Bama probably told him they'd save a spot for him and try to help him get qualified, but Bama wasn't willing to risk losing the signing spot. That's what Bama did with Jordan Davis.

Is Georgia still recruiting him?

I've asked the question over on their board.

Georgia has re-offered him.

IMO the main reason they did this was not really to help the kid but to give the perception they flipped one from Bama on the first day of the ESP.

What about Smalls? Do we like Banks more than him? Smalls seemed like a certainty in this class and he is a 5-star. What changed?

I just saw the report about the Feds case against an LSU booster who scammed a non profit (Childrens Hospital) out of 500,000 and gave 180,000 to the father of an lsu football player. LSU has confirmed that the ncaa is asking questions. The federal gov is just handing over corruption documents to the ncaa. (I guess he could have just owed the guy 180,000)
