Xzavier Henderson, Columbus, WR
Again I am really hoping coach Sal can sell this kid on being our next Judey. As we need a WR with this size speed ratio in this class.
He's my second favorite WR in this class. It seems Henderson seems to be a Clemson,Fla Bama battle right now.
Is there anymore updates of how his visit went and did who hosted him on this visit.

Wonder why we take commitments from players such as him and have higher priorities so early in the process ? If he was/is a backup plan , I don’t see the benefit of the commit/ de commit ordeal.

For Worsham I think things changed for him due in part to injuries and surgeries however, I don't see this as any sort of ordeal myself. If the kid is ok with committing knowing they will continue to pursue higher priority prospects I don't see an issue. If you are the prospect you have a spot locked up where you want to go if they miss on other priorities and if you are the school you have another option locked in that you don't have to get on board at the last minute. I think it is actually a win win for everyone. Things don't work out or the kid thinks there is a school that is better for them they can decommit whenever they like. To me it is like when a school puts a kid on a waiting list for college.
I might see your point if we were taking the commit of a very low priority prospect or we have only one spot for the position but Worsham is a top 300 recruit at a position where we will need to fill a number of spots this year.

Not really an ordeal , maybe just a poor choice of words but like you say he is highly thought of and it has been assumed he would not be in this class. It is a position of need and just wondering what the coaches thought process is and why they take a commitment and then encourage the player to look around later on. Seems like it could harm relationships with some coaches later on
being a coach myself , I understand the process and getting the best players you possibly can but it would be disappointing if it happened to one of my players
Maybe the player is told this up front and I hope that is the case.

I see your point. My view is pretty much like anything, if you are up front about what is going on it shouldn't be an issue. In this case if they tell the prospect what thier plans are and the prospect chooses to commit they are aware of the situation. Now I'm not a coach so that may be frowned upon in your circles. If the staffs are not being forth coming with what they are doing than I see that as a major problem, but I doubt Saban would do that.

Since Worsham committted (April 2018), Bama has landed a few more WRs and may land another. Bama will lose 2 or 3 starters, but there are other talented WRs on the roster and Bama will land some more in the 2021 & 22 classes.
So, maybe Worsham is coming to the realization that it may be a lot tougher for him to ever be a starting WR at Bama than he originally thought, and therefore feeling like he should go to a school where he'll have a better chance of playing and starting sooner.
I think it was probably like that with De'Rickey Wright. I don't think he was encouraged by Bama to look around. I think he probably decided that on his own.

I wonder how this could potentially affect recruiting.
Has anyone seen this: LSU acknowledges ‘ongoing inquiry’ into potential NCAA violations
Apparently, according to the article, a booster, now former booster had been stealing from the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports a Baton Rouge hospital.... to help get money to pay for some LSU recruits.
The Dad of former LSU offensive lineman Vadal Alexander, is alleged to have received $180,000 from a disgraced former booster of the school.
People often point the finger away from where the "action" really is!

Few threads on SEC Rant and LSU board about this . They don’t seem worried about basketball or football

Xzavier Henderson or E.J. Williams could take his spot.
Really hope that we can get both.

QB Chubba Purdy committed to Louisville.

Robby Ashford commits to Ole Miss. That one seems odd. Thought he was going to Auburn.

They can whistle past the graveyard all they want but with this level of violation in multiple major sports smacks of the dreaded Lack of Institutional Control and LSU would be a nice trophy hide for the NCAA wall with the scrutiny they are under. This will not end well for them unless I miss my guess.

He's not that good of a QB to be honest. Probably has more upside playing another position.

The great thing about taking a bunch of solid early commits, is that you can start to replace ones you need to while not being left in the cold like we did couple of years ago with the 1st ESD. I presume there will be 2-3 more that get recruited over after Worsham.

The irony is how they post pictures of chargers for years claiming we were the worst offenders
The reality is they were the ones who were SMU-lite.

Yup, Ole Miss fans were doing the same thing. This could turn out even worse
