His decision to "not going to camp" (seems to be feeling he has nothing to learn or prove?) so that cost him his 5* status... not sure what that impact is on his signing... if you believe that all recruits are paid, seems this would hurt him? But, maybe his on field performance in the fall will give him a boost back into 5* status.
Maybe he doesnt really care and just doesnt want to put in the work to show out/learn at camps? (doesn't speak well of his dedication to the game). BUT, hey, this is just my thoughts, I could be mistaken....RT

From the BamaOnLine article linked above:
quote:

Evans reiterated that last week in an in-depth interview with 247Sports. Asked if he and George, who had not yet committed to Alabama, planned to play together in college, Evans said: “Yeah. We’re a package deal.”

It’s important to point out that package deals are often discussed in recruiting by high school teammates and close friends, but they don’t always occur in that fashion. A lot can change, and often situation fits get placed ahead of high school friendships.

However, Evans and George seem serious about this; Evans’ quote to 247Sports last Tuesday was just one of many instances he’s said so in the past.

I hope I am wrong, but I keep questioning if this is real or just hype and Zach trying to help his buddy get a good ride? Can anyone recall a "Package deal" that worked? I know we got Taulia and his left tackle from Thompson and Paul and his left tackle from Trussville last year, but don't remember them saying we are going together? Maybe this one will work like those.... if so, COME ON DOWN ZACHARY EVANS!!!! you are the next to play Bama RB's to the NFL

From BamaOnLine and Twitter records across the nation of Bama Recruiting:
I have been posting the twitter tweets when guys are visiting and when they get offers throughout the week... is there a preference? Would you guys rather seem them once a week or every day? (it does get the board pretty busy during this time) But, I have no issue with holding them until the end of the week and making one/two posts. Just let me know your thoughts.

Burgess-Becker and Ridley were a package, one committed at A-Day after hearing the other did.

Haha Clinton-Dix and Dee Hart wasn't exactly a package deal, but they did leverage Bama into taking Dee as an EE.

I believe that Julio Jones and Robert Lester may have been a package deal (I could be completely wrong on that though). Regardless I’m not worried, George appears to be a legitimate D1 prospect unlike other package deals in the past.

Much like the Sopsher deal, take me take my brother... that sure didnt work for his brother; and seems like they reclassified his brother to save face???
I dont remember about Lester and Julio either?... But, I was mostly commenting on the joy and jubilation about Evans once George committed. Unless they commit at the same time, I see it for what it is worth... hope and not much else. I think Roydel will be a worthy RB and surely Bama gets another of the top tier guys if Evans turns to Uga or CU...

Yeldon and Anderson were always considered a package deal. Yeldon had an amazing freshman season, but Anderson was a damn fine player as well.

Dre Kirkpatrick & K Kelly I believe were a package deal. I always thought Kelly would pan out especially as he was a 4 star but was plagued by injuries.

Either way George looks to have a lot of upside with or without Evans in tow.

LINK ]Take Two: Will Alabama lock down fast-rising Quandarrius Robinson? Mike Farrell, Adam Gorney, Rivals.com

quote:

Take Two returns with a daily offering tackling an issue in the college football landscape. Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney lays out the situation and then receives takes from Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and an expert from the Rivals.com network of team sites or a regional analyst.

THE STORYLINE

No player in the newly-released Rivals100 made a bigger jump in the rankings than Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin linebacker Quandarrius Robinson and he might not be done moving up.

From not ranked in the Rivals250 to No. 28 overall, Robinson is only a few spots from five-star status and with his unique blend of length and athleticism he could be someone in that five-star discussion moving forward.

The four-star prospect had been committed to Auburn but backed off that pledge and is still considering the Tigers along with Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and others in his recruitment.

It looks like Alabama could have the edge, though, which follows a storyline over the last many years where players commit to Auburn early only to end up with the Crimson Tide.

Quinnen Williams, T.J. Yeldon, Cyrus Kouandjio and Dee Liner come to mind. Reuben Foster went from Alabama to Auburn and back to Alabama. Rashaan Evans attended Auburn High and had major connections to the Tigers but ended up picking Alabama instead.

Can Auburn or another SEC program convince Robinson to sign, or will the fast-rising outside linebacker be just another outstanding in-state prospect who heads to Alabama?

LINK ]Take Two: Will Alabama lock down fast-rising Quandarrius Robinson? Mike Farrell, Adam Gorney, Rivals.com

quote:

FIRST TAKE: Andrew Bone, BamaInsider.com

“There is a lot to love about Robinson on the field. He has all the tools you look for in an outside linebacker or edge rusher. He has incredible quickness coming off the ball. He has shown the ability to cover in space and make plays in the open field. He has a great frame and excellent speed. He continues to get better every year and has developed into one of the best overall players in the country. His stock should continue to climb and can earn another star in the next few months.

“Robinson grew up a big Auburn fan. He also gave an early commitment to the Tigers. He backed off from his decision after his junior season and has taken several visits. Most of his trips were to Alabama. He has developed a very strong relationship with outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri. The connection appears as a key factor in his recruitment. Robinson will take official visits this month to Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee. He will spend a few days in Tuscaloosa next week on an unofficial visit and take his official to Alabama in the fall. Alabama appears in great shape for Robinson, but Auburn won’t go down without a fight anytime soon.”

LINK ]Take Two: Will Alabama lock down fast-rising Quandarrius Robinson? Mike Farrell, Adam Gorney, Rivals.com

quote:

SECOND TAKE: Mike Farrell, Rivals.com

“He has the highest ceiling out of anybody I’ve seen from the state of Alabama this year. He’s a tall linebacker so he could grow into a hybrid defensive end for sure. He’s 6-foot-5, 217 and could put on weight on that frame. He can have his hand in the dirt at times, he can stand up at times, he covers a ton of ground because of his length.

“After the early commitment to Auburn, Robinson obviously took a step back to look at his options. Most people think it’s going to be Alabama now and he’d be a good fit in that defense. There have been guys who have flipped from Auburn to Alabama who had success and it’s always interesting because before the early 2010s it was very rare for someone to commit to either Alabama or Auburn and then flip to the other school. Now it seems much more common. If he goes to Alabama and turns out to be a star, that hurts Auburn even more.”

I'm liking this class, but the services sure do have alot of them ranked low, for now. Not sure what to make of that, we usually don't have this many 3-stars in 2-3 classes combined.
