Look the UCF game was bad, but they'll likely make the tournament. We re in good shape already to make the dance. Compare it with other sec teams...The barn and miss St have good records but they're beating nobodies. We are facing teams who will be playing in March and it'll get us ready. The barn and moo st have no resume to fall back on unless they tear it up in league play, and that's not happening

We're 7-2 at the end of the day. Not bad.

If we'd just won that stupid UCF game, we'd be in incredible shape for making the tournament.

Ye, frustrating as hell.

Man we play a good schedule. Zero bad games from UTA through March. That's nuts.

I think we're getting ready to see how good (or bad) a coach Avery Johnson actually is. How he projects his will on the team at this point is very important, IMO.

Looks like he did pretty well! They played with a helluva lot more intensity and physicality last night. Thank God for the rebound advantage..with 24 turnovers, you've got to offset it by dominating at something.

Hahaha we missed 10? free throws and Rhode Island had 28 points off turnovers to our 8 or 9.

So, we literally gave away 30 points. They're gonna put me in the grave.

We're in very good shape early on. RPI is 13 according to ESPN and Strength of Schedule is 7.

We played without our point guard and star player for most of the game. Just glad we gutted it out.

Sexton was supposed to solve our TO problems. Games like last night will keep a bad team in the game much less a decent squad like URI. We’re going to have to put a complete game together to beat the best teams on our schedule. Wish we had a cupcake game left so we could sit Petty and let him heal.

Well, to be fair, Sexton barely played last night.

But yea, turnovers have sucked so far. Howevever, we got a bunch of young kids playing against basically all good teams (most of them also good, tough defensive teams). So, it's to be expected a little. Gotta figure it out though.

We've got to get a handle on this FT situation....and fast. I don't want to start a debate on the subject, but becoming an average free throw shooter isn't rocket science. Correct form (foot position, front the basket, bend knees and shoot with legs and wrist, etc.), concentration (fixate on form) and practice enough to let muscle memory do most of the work.
Hell, I'd bring a guru in to work with them.(moreso for the mental aspect)
If FT% doesn't improve, we're gonna lose some games that we should have won.

The gap between the Arizona and Mercer games is going to be crucial for this team. Petty needs to heal, Key needs to get acclimated, and hopefully the staff can work out a lot of the errors that are currently plaguing us.

Yea - that gap between Arizona and Texas, really, is huge. Mercer is a good mid-major but they are a step below UCF/Rhode Island/Arizona/Texas. If guys are close but not quite there I'd be fine sitting them that game.

I think we can improve on the turnovers as we get more experience and guys play with eachother more. I think free throws, for the most part, just are what they are. Sexton is going to be an elite FT shooter (he's already back up to almost 80% after his dreadful first few games) and everyone else is going to be 50-70%.

Honestly, has anyone compared our FT shooting at home and away? I'm curious if our rims too tight or loose.

Through 9 games, against good competition, we're sitting at 7-2 with a big statement game this weekend. Not to mention this team hasn't come close to playing a "clean" game yet.

It will take time with the young guys but at some point the lightbulb will turn on for them. Exciting to watch!

But we've got a little worse each game. It is really bizarre too. The competition hasn't drastically increased either which makes it even more strange

We're complaining so much about free throws, yet Alabama can't hold onto the ball to save their life. We've had nearly 40 turnovers in just the last two games, and most of them are just the team being careless with the ball.

How about our shooting from deep? 18% last night, 23% against UCF and 22% against La Tech. This is atrocious. Petty needs to step up if this is going to be his main shot. Otherwise, make an extra pass and feed the post.

Yea - it's literally the worst combination I can think of. We give away basically 20% of our possessions at this point, and not only are we forfeiting our possessions but a lot of the time we are simultaneously handing over easy points to the other team. It's just a total knife to the gut.
