Gene, what about the auburn matchups? look decent to me

I think so

I personally think AU should be teh favorite to the sweet 16. I don't think an elite 8 is off the table either if Kansas' Azubuike is still injured. Personally, I think the RD32 opponentw ould be NMSU while the Sweet16 matchup is NCST (if KU w/o Azubuike)

If AU just has a reasonable shooting game, they should be able easily handle everyone except Kansas up until Elite 8... where they'd get their clocks cleaned by either MSU/Duke

Nah, they got a 6'10 C Blackshear

Dante Hall isn't really great at posting up though. He excels offensively running the floor in transition + inside passes off dribble penetration

He's been very good with his back to the basket. We just don't give him enough touches in the post. He's regularly doubled when getting the ball in the post because of it.

I feel pretty good about the team going into the Tourney. Sexton will bring the energy and hopefully the team feeds of that.

The story of the season has been they get up for big games and play uninspired when it's not. Well this is the big one.

They are all big now. Survive and advance or your season is over.

He infrequently gets position to merit an entry pass because he doesn't post up well.

I'm not going to argue that Hall is solid at finishing when he is has good position, he just isn't great at getting into position.

Gene, you still in he south? Too bad neither team pulled the south region. ATL is a quick drive for me. I'm considering Boston if something crazy happens but I'll still be on crutches in a cast.

Am I screwed if I try to wait until the weekend is over foe Hotel/tickets?

If UK advances I might make the trip for the experience.

He's by no means a bully in the paint, but his lack of touches are more due to infrequent post ups. There hasn't been many moments where I'm seeing Hall posted up, we're looking to get him the ball, and he doesn't get it. He's not great at establishing position, but he doesn't have to be. Pretty much every time he gets the ball in a post up, he doesn't have steady position for an entry pass. He's just able to catch the ball off-balance and in every awkward position possible (somehow always without traveling). He then establishes the post up (because the permitted extra physicality of the post defender is taken away in today's game once the player receives the ball) and uses his finesse and long frame to get off indefensible hook shots.

Oh ok well I don’t have a clue why people are saying that. A couple of Bama fans were saying that on twitter. Looks like they were wrong

Yup. I thoguht we'd get Dallas, which would have given us a good home court situation since we have a solid alumni crowd out there w the flood of TX kids coming in recently

California followed by Omaha if we get lucky kind of blows.

It's true that Blackshire is the only big guy VT has that plays. That being said hall runs the floor and is more athletic than any post guy they have.

We need to try to get Blackshear in foul trouble early.

When you think about it they didn't beat a single at-large team. Yes, they finished second in their conference but they didn't beat anyone. Granted, they still had a Q1 of 4-5, Q2 of 5-4 and 8-0 Q3.

I can understand it, but maybe i'm just not enough of a USC homer yet.

FourThreeForty is making some pretty outlandish rant claims so I'll put this out there

Alabama's 2nd best offensive efficiency game this entire season was 1.15 pts / possession against South Carolina (58.8% FG, 65.7% eFG%) . That 2nd best game wouldn't even crack Villanova's top 25

Villanova is a scary AF team to play. In 10 games they handed the opponent their worst defensive efficiency result of the season, 28/34 were one the opponents 10 worst results

This isn't some hot/cold offense from a comparative scrub team like AU that goes boom or bust. Even on our "hot" nights we've only handed out 1 worst efficiency + 7 that were in the top3 worst. AU is the highest efficiency offense in the SEC and we couldn't hold Nova's jock strap
