They were overwhelmingly projected to win the A10 this year. While that is by no means a lock to be a good/great team (and I mean come on, there's only a handful of teams I think you could say could be considered a lock to be "great"), they were expected to be good this year.
Yea - everyone expected Rhode Island to be a very good team. They were almost universally picked to win the A-10.

I want Sexton to really come alive on Thursday. I know he already plays at a high level, but if we're going to lose, let's at least see Sexton put on like a 35-point performance so we can actually watch some decent basketball. Maybe we'll get luck and actually win.
Agree - my hope is that Sexton comes out and sets the tone with a "fvck the world" mentality and guys kind of follow.
I don't expect it, but I feel like it's at least possible.

I’m sure Collin remembers TJ Starks shoving his head last Saturday. He may go off for 30

You forget that the SEC snubbed him from making 1st team All-SEC. Tack on 10 more points to that.

What is the argument for Sexton making 1st team SEC? He's def 1st team talent, but his production wasn't 1st team by any stretch
For a guy who is #1 in Shot% + #10 in FT Rate, Sexton only avg ~18ppg
He wasn't consistently an elite defender
He wasn't a consistently elite rebounder
His assist rate was only #5 in SEC (good but still not elite)
He was a very good player, he was one of the most dangerous players but he wasn't one of the 8 best players

I do think we'll learn a lot from the first 10 minutes Thursday. If we come out attacking and playing with high level energy then I will feel pretty good about the game and the possible follow-up games/tournament.
If we come out passive then it'll be pretty clear the end of the season was just too much and broke them.

That Collin Sexton has spent his entire basketball life manufacturing real and unreal slights and beefs to destroy people.

I added some context to the above question, but I am kind of serious.
If All SEC team is based on production, I just don't see Sexton's argument. He didn't perform as a top 8 player in the league in aggregate or consistently either
Sexton easily is in the top of "game changing" type players, but he didn't do it enough

The problem with Sexton coming out on fire is the more energy he plays with, the less the other 4 on the floor play with. Unless there’s been a come to Jesus moment in the locker room, I don’t think that’s the answer.

I could ask you to argue how 3 or 4 of the players that made it deserved it over him, but we'll make this quick. What's the argument for Robertson over Sexton?

I'm not saying I love the list, but I don't think Sexton was a clear cut 1st team either. As in, I see valid points for certain guys over him vs him over then. Also I think SEC play is heavily weighted vs OOC
Few Legit Arguments for Kass
-Arguably too 3FG shooter in SEC
-8 20+ Pt games in SEC Play despite low tempo team
-114 ORtg Kenpom
-Solid rebounding G
-Did this frequently out of position
I was shocked he made it over Bryce Brown initially but I quickly understood the argumentsonce I looked into it
I think the biggest snub was Admiral Schofield. Should have swapped Kevin Know for the Admiral

GC's Accurate SEC Awards
COY- Barnes + Pearl
I'm okay with just Barnes, I don't give credit to Pearl for overcoming the program's self-inflicted problems, but the coaching job itself w/ 9 scholly players and then losing starters at times down the stretch is deserving of a "Co" with Barnes
POY- Yante Maten
1st Team
G Chiozza UF
G Macon Ark
G Robertson Mizz
F Maten UGA
F Williams TN
F Silve USCe
F Schofield TN
C Davis TAMU
2nd Team
G Sexton Bama
G Harper AU
G Brown AU
G Heron AU
F Roberson Vandy
F Knox UK
F Weatherspoon MSU
Undecided Last Spot: G Waters LSU / G Hudson UF / F Williams TAMU

A lot of people can make good arguments one way or another, but I don't think the teams were that off based on SEC play production. The most noticeable "errors" to me were Knox > Schofield + Barford > Macon
I don't think the AU snubs individually are bad, but it follows a track record of "questionable" snubs so I understand the outrage. In the past 5 seasons AU has had 2 SEC leading scorers + a SEC Champion team and have yet to make a 1st Team All SEC
.... While somehow Kevin F'ing Knox made it

Louisville will likely take our spot in Lunardi's last 4 in now.

If this is the case, I could argue Chiozza shouldn't even be second team much less over Sexton on first team.
Conference numbers:
Chiozza - 33 MPG, 9.1 PPG on 37% from field, 6.3 APG, and 4.2 RPG
Sexton - 29 MPG, 16.8 PPG on 40% from field, 3.8 APG and 3.7 RPG.
Translate Sexton's stats into same minutes and Sexton has 2 less assists per game, but same RPG and 10 more PPG on higher efficiency.

That's pretty much all he has going for him.

Sounds first team worthy, until you add in the fact that he's been playing 38.2 MPG in SEC play.
Translate Sexton's conference numbers to those minutes and Sexton's averaging 5 more PPG, over 1 more RPG, and nearly 2 more APG than Robertson.

We need to root for Iowa State, Oklahoma, UNC, Vandy, and Ole Miss today.
