Dude, Pitt couldn’t beat their meat. And ‘Cuse and Bayheim always get hot during the tourney and causes problems.

All that said I think St. Mary's should be in, but it's a crap resume and they should be a 10 at best.

I've always felt like teams in St Mary's situation are a perfect playin game teams. Let them prove they belong

I'd also say that I wish play in games didn't count as NCAAT appearances. Would make them more exciting, more at stake

Rhode Island has a much better resume than St. Mary's. Rhode Island's RPI is 16, SOS is 59, and your favorite metric SOR is 33. St. Mary's RPI is 36 and SOS is 181, and SOR is 49

My point isn't about discrediting RI but saying that St Marys should be closer to 'safe' than they currently are. The SoR is concerning, but that should improve after Conf Tourneys as a lot of teams will start losing games coming up

While I love the idea of SoR, I'll admit the flaws. From ballparking/providing context to SoS though is really where I think its use is right now

They've also won more games against decent/good opponents.

From @AlabamaMBB

quote:

Sexton becomes second player in school history to earn Freshman of the Year, also tabbed to Second Team All-SEC and All-Freshman team, while Donta Hall selected to the All-Defensive team

Also notable: Rick Barnes wins SEC COTY and UT’s Grant Williams is SEC POTY

Apparently, there are 8 better players than Sexton in the SEC. Very comical.

Don't get me wrong Grant Williams is a great player, but that was Yante Maten's award.

They announced today that they’re going to do the Selection Show a little different this year. They’ll announce the names of all 68 teams who made the tourney, and then after that they’ll show the bracket and who’s playing who.

At least if we go in squarely on the bubble we’ll know pretty quickly whether we made it or not

So according to USA Today, Nick King is an All-American (15 players selected), which is probably the most Alabama Basketball thing ever...

Collin Sexton said the confidence in #Alabama's locker room is "higher than ever," despite the five-game losing streak.

Collin Sexton and Donta Hall both mentioned rebounding in today's press conference. You can tell that's been a focus in practice this week.

Sorry Collin, but they didn’t mean you, they meant the other 14 guys.

Avery Johnson asked what it'll take for #Alabama to get in the NCAAs "I'm really focused on the type of mindset we're going to need to prepare for this game Thursday ... Our resume speaks for itself. We have had some disappointing losses, but we've won some high-level teams."

Avery Johnson: "The tournament that we're focusing on today is the SEC Tournament and how we can finish with one more point than Texas A&M."

Avery Johnson says he does not know about Herbert Jones' availability yet. He has been cleared for "some parts" of contact in practice, Avery says.

Rebounding wouldn't be as bad if Donta would play hard on a consistent basis. I will say his effort was much better against A&M, and as a result we were able to hold are own against a much bigger team (despite Avery's bonehead decision not to play Giddens). Hopefully Hall is back to his normal self.

We're really questioning if the guy playing with a fractured wrist, one that gets jammed every possession almost, is playing hard?

More talented? No. Produced at a higher level from the viewpoint of coaches? Not really that much of a stretch

** I don't like the coaches picks for All SEC, but keep in mind coaches normally vote based on how guys perform against them. The grading should be focused that way too

I put this up for some AU players since we were left off as well, but here is some help to understand how Sexton performed in SEC players against coaches

Sexton's Season Performances broken out by coaches

- Sexton shot <40% FG against 8 coaches
- Sexton shot >50% FG against only 3 coaches
- 3 Coaches never saw Sexton hit a 3FG
- Sexton shot >33.3% 3FG against only 3 coaches
- Only 5 coaches saw Sexton with >4 assists in a game
- 5 coaches never saw Sexton record a steal

I wasn't saying to expect. I'm just pointing out what would help us.

They're somehow within single digits at the moment.

Dude, Hall's effort against Auburn, Arkansas, and Florida was terrible.

Well, Notre Dame won, but they certainly didn't pass the eye test.

Any debate that Rick won COTY over Bruce?

His effort or his performance?

Honest question, you think he decided to play with a painful joint injury guaranteed to cause splitting pain at least 4-5 times during games in 3 of the biggest games of the season and quickly decided "meh, whatever, not giving any effort" after 3 years of superb effort?

That makes sense.
