I don't know about y'all, but part of me is hanging on to the slightest sliver of hope that Sexton makes a shocking decision to return similar to Miles Bridges and Robert Williams last year. If we retained Sexton, next year's team would be straight dominant... Right?!? Right?!? I'm moving on to next season so I don't get my hopes up again. I'm on that pre-postseason before the next season hype.

Honestly, I do think we play better as a TEAM with Sexton on the bench. I appreciate all his effort and he should be a top lottery pick.

The sad thing is, I don't think Sexton accomplished anything by coming to Bama. I guess, he held his stock up but I don't think he gained anything by playing at Alabama.

I guess anything is possible but he's projected between 7-9 in first round. I appreciate him coming here instead of following the typical blue blood route. We were the first to discover him and he took a chance on us, and it raised our recruiting profile I think for the future.

While I do think not having him gives other players a chance to shine, we are definitely a better team with him. I hate to use the most despised word in this thread again, but that's what happens with young players. They defer to the stud and don't feel like they need to get in the way by taking shots and feel extra pressure to hit shots if they take the them. Even if you don't trust Avery to help these players improve, you'd have to think that at least some of these freshmen/sophomores will have more confidence with a year under their belt in playing with Sexton.

I think Sexton would do himself a favor by returning and working on his jump shot, but you can't blame him for leaving if the NBA is going to throw lottery pick money his way.

If his jump shot isn't an issue for NBA teams then that's what matters.

Not sure if Sexton is in a similar situation. Both Bridges/Williams had legit arguments for places to work on their game by returning

Williams- Refine post game/moves + extend shooting range
Bridges- Tweener who played mostly the 4 while likely a 3 in NBA. He plays the 3 this year for NBA

Sexton doesn't really have a place to improve his game/improve for NBA scouts.

His mechanics and shot seem fine, he just needs to make it a bigger part of his game. That's something he can do in the NBA

Also let's be real, would you trust shot improvement w a NBA team or w Avery Johnson whose son doesn't even shoot like a normal person

In addition if a guy like him gets on a roll it can elevate the other guys, I'd rather take my chances with him. Hopefully these guys are sick of losing and come together this week.

His stock has been slipping in a lot of mocks due to his 3pt shot being poor since conference play started. I don't agree with it, and he'd be the first PG off the board if I had a say, but it's happening. I've actually seen a couple where he's fallen out of the lottery. LOL if that happens.

That same thing could be said about William's decision to return last year. I don't think it will happen, but I don't think Sexton returning would be any less surprising than Williams and Bridges returning last yeae. Both of those guys were top 10 locks last year (not so much this year).

Sexton needs to get credit for overcoming the poor coaching he's had to deal with. He might be SEC player of the year even though he plays for the worst coach in the SEC. That's impressive.

He ll be a lottery pick, he ll be the first pg off the board, there all several teams in the 7-13 range that need a guy like him. The modern NBA is built for his game especially the floor being spread and the transition game. He impressed the scouts last summer with his distribution in the all star Circuit. His jumper will improve in the long run...But man I'd kinda like for him to slip and it cause him to wanna come back for 1 more year and prove any doubters wrong. One thing also is his defensive potential...They like that he defends .

I'm sure he will be.

My bet would be on Young. I'd take Collin first, but I'd have a hard time arguing that Young over Collin is a very bad decision.

I'd say the better way to prove doubters wrong is success in the league not in college

I see your point, but I think alot of GMs would eventually regret taking young over Collin. Young plays zero defense and is easily frustrated if u get physical with him.

Most of Young lack of defense is because OU can't afford to ever lose him to foul trouble

Fortunately for Young though, the NBA isn't physical for guards anymore. Just watch someone breath too heavy near James Harden

Perhaps, but it is rare to ever find a player who you can run an offense through like Trae Young

Ultra athletic PGs like Sexton are found in a lot of draft lotteries

I agree about proving people wrong by succeeding in the NBA. My point was more that he's a competitive kid and may feel like he could've done more in college. I actually believe he ll be way better in the NBA . He wants to be good and I think that mindset of being unranked in high school for alot of the time has stayed with him.

BYU beats St. Mary's. That's turned into a decent win for us. I don't think St. Mary's has the resume to get in.
