They aren't contribute at a high level year 1 underrated. They are closer to Reese/Herb Jones/Smith freshmen than guys to be relied on next year

Right Tom, Howland is doing only marginally better than Bama right now.

They aren't doing marginally better. Look at their SEC conference slate. They had one of, if not the easiest slates, while Alabama had one of, if not the hardest. State has played the 3 worst teams in the league (USCe, Vandy, and OM) 6 times. Alabama played that same group 3 times (2 of which were on the road). You mentioned that they have the same losses, but do you care to point out their best wins for me? We have wins over Auburn, a 28-pt blowout over UT, and an 18-pt blowout on the road vs UF. They aren't doing marginally better. They've just had a significantly easier schedule.

Yea, Howland hasn't done shite at State so far. Don't know why anyone would be lauding his tenure there as a shining example of what we could have.

Well if Avery Johnson Jr starts, 10 may have overestimated next year

Butler still has a lot of development and is going to have some major speed bumps adjusting to D1. He isn't an elite athlete in the lane and is TO prone at the HS level

I expect Butler is going to have a good career, but YR1 he isn't going to carry the team

Upvote on that. We've got wins over Auburn, FLA, a&m , Tennessee...As well as Rhode island and Oklahoma. To act like state's schedule in or out of conference is even close to ours would be disingenuous.

Honestly we should be in the market for a seasoned, experienced point guard in the transfer market for a gap filler, but we really can't be with Butler and Jr on the roster.

Whatever who gives a fvck. Like it matters.

On what paper? Your sunshine tinted paper?

I mean, it's true, he's a huge sunshine pumper, but you're an Auburn fan that always predicts the worst case scenario for anything Alabama Basketball related. I'd put major money on us placing higher than 10th in the SEC next year assuming nothing unexpected happens.

Sexton is a big loss, but you'd have to expect pretty much no progress from the youngest returning team in the SEC for us to place 10th.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some of your posts, but sometimes I feel like you are the most subtle troll of all

I'm sure butler will have to adjust to college just like all freshmen do...He's not going to be expected to carry the team either I might be an optimist but it's due to the youth on this roster. If they're picked lower preseason it may serve them better anyhow.

I've been accused this yr of white knighting for Avery and being too optimistic about Bamas season projection. Got to hit the full spectrum

What I'd say for next year is that you'll look a lot like MSU this year. A ton of young, talented guys who aren't finished developing and inconsistency will keep them 6-8

I specifically mentioned preseason picks because that's what VA mentioned. I expect 6-8 and should be NCAAT team if development occurs

I also specifically said they'd outperform preseason pick. Same reason I said AU at 9 was wrong this year tho I thought it was valid from a preseason perspective

Some people on this board not me aren't convinced there will be development

Right now it's probably more rubbing in the whole people hating on me in the off-season for saying this team will be young and look young making you want to kick a puppy

I've said it before, Bama/AU being a regular SEC top 6 + NCAA team w competitive AU rivalry is good for basketball in this state. Rising tide floats all boats

I'm smart enough to know that Bama having a team w a pulse is a net positive for AU

...and you ARE right about us having a bunch of athletes, but not polished basketball players. HEll, we're still gonna be in need of proven shooters.

Bird may be right about you being a deep-state troll, though.

The highest we can finish in the SEC this year is 7th, the lowest is 10th

Jerry Palm moved Bama back into his bracket after Syracuse lost. We’re in the first four as a 12 seed playing Providence

Mark Schlabach is such hack. He is from the AJC which should explain how shitty he is by itself

He wrote a ton of click bait articles on AU softball and basketball that were shoddy journalism though. Multiple article edits without editors notes, using only one clear unreliable source and v other garbage

There were real hard hitting stories there but he just put out last, low quality click bait

He makes Joe Schad/Pete Thamal look like Pullitzer prize winners

It's strange to me how he is almost openly a Georgia person, everyone in the industry knows he loves UGA, and yet nobody really seems to question it.

I dunno, how Thmel done anything in the last 10 years that isn't laughably ridiculous? It's almost like that's his shtick now so he perpetuates it.

So if Collin is the focal point of the problems as has been implied, why not sit him out a game? Tell him he needs a rest, tell him he’s got a 24 hour stomach bug, tell him you’re experimenting with the lineup. But sit him down (make sure he knows he’s not being punished) and see what the rest of them do. What could it hurt? We’re playing like shite with the best player on the floor, try it without him and see if they up their game. What do you have to lose?

I'm really uncomfortable perpetuating this narrative that has not been even close to verified by anyone that the center of our issues is somehow related to Colin and/or others being made at Colin. It's really not fair to Colin or the other guys.

I think it's kind of reckless, honestly.
