Samford got destroyed by Arkansas the other day and then Samford beat Alabama A&M by about 20. We shouldn't lose to A&M

Alabama A&M is currently ranked #350 out of #351 teams in KenPom.

Was anyone a student back in like 2010-2012 and went to basketball games? Seems like the pregame and student engagement was much better. They would lay out stuff the students had to do during certain times and it was great. Wondering why they stopped that. Anyone remember this?

That was done by members of Crimson Chaos. Not sure what the student experience is like now, but they seemed pretty engaged in the game last night.

I was a student during those exact years. Had to have the Crimson Chaos shirt to sit behind the basket on the floor and everything. Chaos definitely had better leadership back then.. IMO they didn't do a good job of recruiting future leadership for it.
As far as what they designed for students to do at certain times, I felt that was pretty lackluster anyway.
The main thing that needs to happen with the student section is for them to be encouraged that they are a big difference maker. That's what kept me coming back to games as a student.. felt like they needed me. I think AJ is building that. it can take a while to build it up. There is still a ways to go, but I liked what I saw at big moments from the students last night.

Our realtime RPI is 4 right now. Strength of schedule is at 5. Lipscomb is sitting at about 56 RPI so they could very well be a bubble tourney team.

I don't see any way we miss the playoffs unless someone major is injured (Petty or Sexton).

We already have 2 very good scorers out and are still capable of winning every game on our schedule if we play our best.

We were engaged, but I feel like that pregame should come back. As well as the "chug" during free throws.

Is anyone worried that Key and Riley might not fit in great with the pace of this team? Neither have ever seemed particularly good in the open floor.

The only one I'm really worried about is Key because he's not a great shooter. Norris will work perfectly because he loves to sit and pop threes off breaks. Sexton will love Norris in transition.

I understand that, but we are beating good basketball teams without two major pieces. Key was our best player last year and now he may not even be noticeable out there among Sexton and Petty.

Also, our SOS is so good that we could lose 10-12 games and still get in easily. That's why I'm so positive we get in.

I've actually kind of been wondering how they'll fit. I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought the young guys playing might be better. I guess we'll see. Depth is good, if nothing else.

Memphis is a very bad basketball team. Lipscomb is decent. I'd see if we make it through Arlington, BYU, and put up a good game against Minnesota before making proclamation. It's the negative, scorned Bama basketball fan in me.

I agree that I'm more worried about Key's fit, but I don't know if I want Norris shooting lots of threes when we have better shooters on the floor.

I also wonder what we'll be looking like rotation wise. We played nine guys over 10 minutes last night. No way we are going to be playing 11 guys when Riley and Key get back. Reese and Galin seem most likely to lose minutes, but I've liked their play so far.

Its so damn awesome to watching people move without the ball on offense, instead of 1 guy dribbling and 4 guys staring at him like an idiot.

Not at all. I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Key will get a heavy majority of his minutes at the 4. You can't have enough passers in transition and replacing a true post with Key should help in transition. Riley will probably spend time at the four in a small-ball lineup as well and even when he plays on the wing, he's a spot up shooter which should only help with the transition offense.

I didn't think about Key at the 4. He would be a monster there with the pace we run. It's just really exciting to think we were without our best player from last years team and another decent scorer and were able to put up 86 while missing so many fts.

I'd bet on Norris being the highest percentage 3pt shooter this year. I realize his consistency hasn't always been there, but he also hasn't had an offense that moves the ball around well. Of all the returning players, I think Norris and Hall should benefit the most from the new player additions.

Key should also hopefully be able to help with guarding the stretch 4s that seemingly kill us every game.
