The problem with making the big Auburn type jump next year is we have Avery, they have Pearl. Avery’s a great recruiter. Pearl is a damn good coach. I don’t like him and I think he’s sleazy but he knows his craft certainly better than Avery does. I’m afraid we get a whole lot of the same.
I do like Avery and I don’t want us to have to fire him but I don’t think he has a very high ceiling and we’re almost there.

Last year people were laughing at Pearl bc he had missed the postseason for the third straight year and I think he had 2 five stars on the team as well. They had serious defensive problems and were very inconsistent. They were sort of like Bama this year, but worse. Now he’s made a huge jump with a more experienced team. I don’t think we’ll be sitting at 20-2 and ranked #11 at this time next year, but I think we’re definitely improving each year. The people saying we need to fire Avery need to chill. If he misses the tourney, then that’s a fair thing to say. But we’ve gotta remember Pearl didn’t make it to the NCAA tourney until this year, his fourth at Auburn.

Pearl is a proven college coach. I think it's silly to compare Avery to Pearl. That's just my opinion though.

Herbert has a boot on his right foot in a pic that @AlabamaMBB posted on twitter. We’re so fricking cursed. It never ends

Youth is legitimate. It's a real thing. It's the coaches job to have figured out our youth and find ways to coach around it and/or adjust. He has not done a very good at all with that. It will probably cost us a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Exactly.
I agree that youth plays a major part, but at some point you can't just fall back ONLY on the excuse of youth when things fall apart, especially heading into the home stretch/post season.

I'm a die-hard Alabama basketball fan that believes in the hype every single year, despite knowing the inevitable collapse and implosion.

I'm with you. I feel like the guy who continues to take his girlfriend back because she promises not to do it again. It keeps happening

Oh yea - 100% agree. And I wouldn't even say youth is an "excuse" exactly. I think it explains a team losing some head scratchers, but it doesn't explain a team missing the NCAAT. The coach, whoever it is, is going to be unable to fix all of it. But good coaches figure it out and have their guys growing up as the year progresses.

Everytime it feels like these guys take a step they then take 2 back.

Guys wear those boots for preventative reasons all the time. Remember the AJ boot freak out?

He’s fine, per UA. Jones has been wearing that around campus for a couple of weeks as a precautionary measure, I was told

I don’t see the tweet anymore

He reposted it. Potter said it’s just precautionary according to UA

We need to rebound well today. No feel at all for the outcome.
