Avery said he hopes to hear something about Collin today or in the coming days

Every potential one-and-done isn't getting 50-100k and every recruit going to a blueblood isn't getting paid tons of money. Back in the early 1980s, every star running back wasn't getting a Trans-Am either. You'll only hear about the ones that do and get caught.

Also, not every top level recruit or family will make a choice to go to a program even if offered that kind of money. In fact, I'd bet far more would actually turn down the money and choose the place they thought would position them best for the future. It really isn't that hard to turn down $50,000 when you're going to be having all your expenses paid anyhow and are looking at $10,000,000+ in a few months.

Side note, decisions seem to be on the horizon which is good news. Austin Wiley for Auburn was practicing (first time?) and Jason Caldwell said this

We spoke to someone that would absolutely know and they said nothing has happened yet, but they feel like there's a decent chance Wiley could be declared eligible before Friday's game. We'll keep everyone updated

Colin ineligible for good, Key discovers knee is not actually attached, Norris quits to run a moonshine still on Sand Mountain and our leading scorer is AJ Jr.

Who says no?

Yes, I can.

You have a national championship, a Heisman, and a statue that prove the point.

Unless you're saying the NCAA missed something.

We replaced those with meth labs a long time ago, but I hope Riley starts a trend by bringing back the white lightening.

As far as all the missing players, I think CAJ tried to play too many guys early last year. There was no flow to the games. Good news, he can't do that this year.

I'll just say this, you are viewing this as a fan/supporter of the institution. Most of the players + support structure view this in the player's self interest (or their own interest above player's)

There are two things to keep in mind: 1) Most players do not view accepting money as unethical 2) There was almost no downside to accepting benefits pre FBI

1) There are two parts to this, "everyone is doing it" + "We deserve to be paid". Most players believe that it is wrong that everyone gets paid (coaches to AD staff) except for the players. Accepting money is simply accepting what is rightfully owed. Then Coaches/Mentors/Authority figures involved all told these players that everyone is doing it and make them think it is okay (Look at Chuck Person charges).

2) Pre FBI investigation, a 1 and Done player is in the NBA before anything happens. NBA doesn't care and the NCAA makes the decision well after you are out the door (Derrick Rose ACT or Marcus Camby's impermissible benefits) Hell, Sexton probably is still a top 10-15 draft pick without playing a game this year.

What 18YO do you know that would be told

A) You deserve the $
B) Everyone else is taking the $
C) You have no chance of being caught (and it prob won't affect NBA career if you are)

Is going to turn down the money? Especially when the player's parents, coaches, mentors are the ones making this pitch?

Of course, they def missed something. I don't buy the $180k story, but I don't buy he was "squeaky clean" either

All this bickering is pointless. With the FBI involved, there's really no reason to believe they won't find out everything. They've already shown just how amateur they make these guys look.

What’s wrong with Armond Davis?

I read he has a "sore knee".

We may need him in some of these early games. He underwhelmed last year, but he’s a pretty good defender and has the ability to kickstart our offense.

I think it may be serious but idk for sure. Cecil posted an article last night that said something about he could be out indefinitely with it. He hasn't practiced at all

A kid that is surrounded by people making that pitch is going to take the money every time. I don't disagree with that at all.

My point/position is that not all kids are surrounded by those type of people. Not all parents (hopefully most) pimp out their kids and instead try to give them good advice. For some, that may be picking one blueblood over the other that offers a 'signing bonus' simply because of playing time potential that could take a player from a 20th pick to the lottery.

In short, smart people look beyond a quick cash grab when the decision could be the difference between millions or tens of millions a few months down the road.

Yeah, he came in with the reputation as a 3pt specialist, but I think his strength is really driving to the basket. He's a far better athlete than I was expecting and a pretty good ball handler. I hope his sore knee isn't of the chronic Andrew Steele variety.

Speculation caps on:

Coach Johnson just tweeted Roll Tide with basketball, sunglasses, and elephant emojis. He seems confident. 40-0 is back on bitches

Congrats on that. I swear, every month it would be "New leader" followed by "We aren't sure we're pushing right now" from both Alabama/Auburn

It was definitely a weird recruitment.

And yes, Wood is what Avery was tweeting about. He does that every time we land a recruit

Also, Avery has a regularly scheduled press conference at 1 pm CT. Hopefully we hear something about Collin
