In Grants defense, he faced one the best stretches of Ole Miss basketball in their history and their all time winning coach

It's like how Dabo Swinney has a losing maybe tied now record against USCe, a historical afterthought. He just happened to coach in the few years if relevance

Watching the TCU/WVU game right now, and they started talking about how Oklahoma has had a cold streak lately, due in large part from Trae Young's supporting cast relying on him to do everything, ie passing the ball to him too much instead of playing as a team and trying to make plays themselves. Which is something that they weren't doing earlier on.

This seems familiar, no? Hopefully when Sexton comes back, we keep the same demeanor and play more as a cohesive unit with him on the court.

The Pearl-Leath saga is one of the reasons I firmly believe Bruce will be looking to move on after this season. Sooner or later, the University president will win out, especially in basketball. If it were football, it might be a different story but not for hoops. Bruce isn’t stupid. He’s not going to sit around and waste his hard earned renewed cache’ waiting to be fired. He’ll parlay this great season by Auburn standards into a bigger job somewhere. I could see an ACC school or a Big XII school calling him up.

Not this year he won’t.

Until this shoe thing clears the legal system, no big program is going to touch a coach with a involvement. Pearl isn’t implicated (and I doubt he was involved), but the public statements the AU leadership is making cast enough of a shadow that programs will not risk it. If he were to decide to jump ship this year, it would have to be the hoops equivalent to Kiffin/FAU.

He has a great roster coming back next season. Like Gene said, AU isn’t going to can him so stick around, have another good season, get his name cleared, and then if he feels the need to walk he will have a nice list of options available.

I disagree. Leath wasn't some great hire and has some skeletons in his past. From what I understand, he got blow back in his own job security over how he initially wanted to handle Bruce Pearl by cleaning house no questions asked

If nothing serious comes out about Bruce, Leath would be signing a suicide pact by firing him.

The more interesting dynamic of Leaths comments are if they get in a TN situation. Auburn already hired Bruce mid show cause. There is a real risk of a TN type situation but worse by firing Bruce

It is pretty amusing to see a guy preaching integrity when he just barely avoided criminal prosecution over ethics issues at his last job. That takes cojones

Maybe it’s a weak crowd tonight. 730 tip and they aren’t playing all that well. We’re actually pretty good under Coach Johnson in SEC road games

Ya, that wasn't lost on a lot of influential/powerful Bruce supporters. I believe it is a big reason why Bruce didn't end up fired, Samford Hall definitely made the moves to try.

Obviously I'm pro Bruce, but I don't blame Leath for wanting to clean house. He shows up to AU and gets softball coaches banging players, AU legend + coach getting arrested by the FBI front page news and numerous other athletics scandals. He just decided to put his foot down and take charge w/ basketball....

That and I wouldn't be shocked if tYellaFella Jimmy Rane was trying to scapegoat Bruce. Rane was the guy who demanded Person get a job + has pushed Person's career extremely hard. Rane is also known for scapegoating people and always avoiding blowback

No doubt.

Jimmy is a survivor. If anyone doubts it, just remember that he was a prosecution witness in Mike Hubbard's case.

I don't know what's more impressive, Jimmy's uncanny ability to maneuver his way out of numerous scandals or that someone of that ability constantly finds himself in this shite

For those unfamiliar w state politics, Mike Hubbard ran afoul of the ethics laws as a state Rep. Part of how he ran afoul is by Jimmy Rane "investing" $150,000 in Hubbards failing business.

I hope not. Ole MIss hasn't been all that impressive this season and we really need to win every game we should from here on out with Florida x2, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, and Texas A&M still on the schedule. Really need this one, Mizzou next week, and MSU in a couple of weeks, and steal a couple of those other games.

Looks like Collin Sexton participated in at least a little bit of the shoot around today. He’s still a game time decision for tonight.

@BamaHoopsHype

Avery said even if he does play it will be limited. I at least put him in late game to shoot FTs

I think tonight will be a very tough game to win.

Really hope we can pull it out though.

Definitely no gimmes on the road, that said we re a better team if we do what we've been doing. Defense, rebounding, and playing together have been the ingredients as of late.
