I imagine we'll see a lot more zone against State

Against AU, Bama struggled with letting AU ball handlers blow by them into the lane.

I think that was actually pretty specific to defensing Auburn. Seems the idea was to make Auburn shooters drive at all costs.

Bama's defense has been pretty much the exact opposite all season: not allowing a lot of penetration but often slow to locate/close down three point shooters.

I'd guess Miss St is best defended by letting them shoot the 3s.

Bama's likely problem with Miss St is that their athleticism/length really bogs the offense down and makes the game a particularly ugly coin-toss, especially if Sexton isn't there to drive and getting to the line 10 times.

Gene, does AU lose anyone after this year?

All 9 players in our rotation are eligible to return. I don't think any leave but Heron would be only one I'd have doubts. AU also adds Samir Doughty a VCU transfer

The real question marks for '19 would be of Purifoy/Wiley come back.

Not Gene, but they don't have a single senior on the roster or at least not a scholarship senior. It's possible Heron will go pro and you never know with transfers. I'd say everybody who played in that game last night for both teams will be in it next year except for maybe Heron and Hall.

. Which was definitely a good strategy. From what I saw in LSU game y'all applied similar pressure though

I'd agree but they have a couple decent 3 shooters plus guys like Weatherspoon can get hot

the choke is real.

GTFOH with this shite. There was no choke. If anything, Bama tried to choke away the win. Bama took over early in the 2nd half with good defense and better shooting that you guys.

Collin’s manager said on twitter that he should be good to go Saturday. He said that since he has pain in his abdomen, it’s hard to judge how quickly that will heal or how bad it’ll hurt days from now. But he said Collin is “tough as nails” so he should be able to go

don’t understand why it seems like we can have Petty shooting the lights out like tonight or we can have Colin doing his thing, but we can’t seem to have both at once

Because, in my opinion, Petty doesn't get to touch the ball as often when Sexton plays. Its harder to get in the torch mode when you don't touch the ball but once every 4/5 possessions.

Didn't know they had a couple of players other than Weatherspoon that seem dangerous from 3. Have only seen them play twice this year.

The defense against LSU was to put a long defender like Herb Jones or Ingram on Tremont Waters and also double to make him get rid of the ball as quickly as possible . .
then just scramble to defend after that.

Lot of space for the other 4 LSU players in general but Bama gave up a lot of good 3 pt looks to LSU players other than Waters.

We are either terrible at setting screens or terrible at using them. I can’t decide which. Maybe both
Hall is the only guy that sets a decent screen, PLUS we're terrible at using them....there's no scraping and cutting hard and fast off of them. That, along with boxing out on rebounds, seem to almost be a lost art, and I'm amazed that college coaches put up with it.

I think we can/will beat miss st, ole miss, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, UT , and fla (Tuscaloosa). At miss st is possible. 11-7 in sec is doable if we find consistency night in and night out. 19-12 or 20-11 gets us solidly in the dance.

I think 20 would be the magic number. Anything below that and this thread will be highly volatile

Agree.

20 regular season wins would likely mean a pretty decent seed with a Top20 RPI/etc, SOS around the Top 5 and a lot of Top50 wins.

I'd go so far as to say that Alabama getting to 19 wins including the SEC tourney should be pretty safe for a bid due to how strong the RPI/SOS type numbers are going to be.

For ex:
19-14 including 1-1 in the SEC Tourney

would mean:
RPI type numbers around 35-40
SOS in the Top5 (at least Top10)
likely 9-11 wins against other Top50 teams

Not many teams get left out completely with that kind resume.

Agreed...That's why I kept stressing the strong ooc schedule the past few weeks. Easy to get 11-12 wins early if u pay sub 200 and 300 teams. Avery rolled the dice by challenging these guys and I think/,hope it has made them tougher.

I think we are a Lock at 19 wins if we beat Oklahoma and probably would get in with 18 if we beat them.

Yeah Oklahoma would be a huge feather in the cap.... Wasn't expecting that game to be such a huge opportunity.

Trae Young has started to look human lately. He’s struggled in a couple games and had 12 turnovers in their last loss. If we put Herb on Young, we might can beat them.
