We did, but it wasn't very hard to do. We forced turnovers, but South Carolina isn't a hard team to turnover. I don't know their stats in that regard, but they just look awful on offense. They probably have the worst guards in the league.
Petty played better coming off the bench, so maybe we'll stick with that.

I've wanted this since the season started. It's better for rotational purposes. I just figured it wasn't an option because Petty seems like the kind of kid that wouldn't take it well. Glad to see him embrace that role. I hope we keep that going.

Also in the South Carolina isn’t good but at least there were positives camp.
Main one for me was Braxton looking kind of back to normal. Also I like Petty as the sixth man. Finally, Donta did a few things that would have blown me away last year. Now he just does them and you kind of expect it

It's a little maddening. This team has so much potential and we all know it. These aren't quick flashes of brilliance, these are pretty complete games the Tide has produced at home. But it doesn't amount to a hill of beans if we go to complete crap when stepping outside of Tuscaloosa.

Good win last night, but expected over a pretty dismal USCe team.
Saw the discussion earlier about hiring a defensive minded coach and how he would be a good fit here. I do agree in that aspect, but to me, in the likely scenario that Avery doesn't put it together in the next year 1 1/2, I really don't care what kind of coach we hire. Whatever his philosophy his, I just ask the team to be efficient and have solid fundamentals. This is what's killing Avery's team now, and no one wants to watch a team that's going to be a roller coaster ride. Team's like UVA, Cincinnati, Wisconsin etc.. all play very solid defense year-in and year-out, but they also take high percentage shots and take care of the basketball. We may have improved out PPG this year, but there hasn't been really any consistency with this team, and that's likely going to be the downfall with Avery.

You typically see this more with great defensive minded, grind it out coaches. Mostly because they make their living off development + guys who will be there 4 years, they can't afford to not have solid fundamentals

I don't think we stay within 10 of LSU Saturday.

Gotta be patient with these guys...Might have found something last night, especially if guys have learned what role they fit in best

Can’t be patient too much longer. Half the season is already over and we’re 10-6. Next 2 games are @LSU and vs Auburn. We better come to play those games or were gonna be 10-8 (2-4)

We are gonna "patient" our way to the NIT.

I didn't see you post in this thread after the Georgia game. What were your thoughts?
Posted on 1/10/18 at 11:19 pm to Cobrasize
It was a poor effort outside of sexton. Any other pointless questions?
Posted on 1/10/18 at 11:21 pm to Bamainva40
Poor effort, but it's ok because they are young right?? Am I staying positive enough for you?

Now that I see that smartarse response I can tell I shouldn't have even entertained your question. There are 14 conference games left, sorry that u think we re supposed to become Duke or Kentucky overnight.

You really went out of your way responding. I wouldn't have responded but you come across as a smug know it all. You hid and lurked after the Georgia game because you know we are getting a shite product.
Posted on 1/10/18 at 11:54 pm to Cobrasize
U don't know WTF I did or didn't do. People like u expect instant gratification, seems you're the smug one.

I don't expect anything besides what the Coach told us we were going to get. He set the expectations, now he needs to deliver. There's no excuse for the product we are receiving.

I understand that ...But think logical my friend, we are mostly a team of freshmen and sophomores...There are gonna be bumps in the road. Avery's main task is making them understand how to maintain consistency. The potential of these guys is there and I don't think any of them are bad kids. He challenged them with one of the toughest non conference schedules in the country and I believe we ll see the benefit of that over time
