Geneschin, I like you and respect your opinion but this is beginning to come across like me talking to Auburn fans about all the reasons they should keep Chizik.

As am I, but like it or not, Avery is with us for at least several more years. On the bright side the next recruiting class is suppose to be pretty good.

Haha. Guess I am disappointed but I still feel better about program than I did under Grant. I can see everyone’s frustration though. Doubt I will be making any more midweek trips over there getting home late til there is A LOT of improvement though

Why did we fire Bob Simon? I doubt he would've made a difference, but Avery seems like a nice guy and that seemed like a dick move for little to no gain.

I think the more interesting thing is after Simon's contract wasn't renewed, and everyone knew he was on his way out well before that happened, no school hired him.

I'm not saying that's the reason, but there's a reason no decent school hired him. He was a respected D-1 assistant before he got to Alabama.
Regardless of what it was, I don't have any sympathy for Simon. Coaching carousel is a term for a reason. It's a job that involves a lot of turnover. If you get canned don't go sour grapes just because you felt you were wronged. No decent program is going to want to hire an NCAA assistant that turns on his former program and constantly throws them under the bus on social media. Check his Twitter account. It's entertaining to watch the melt.

Pettway was offered the #2 assistant position at a university with much more basketball prestige than ours. It was keep Simon and lose Pett. Or promote Pettway and lose Simon.

Say we finish the year under .500 or right at .500, we get swept by Auburn, and we don’t make any postseason tourneys. That would also make Avery 1-5 against Auburn. Does Byrne fire Avery or give him one more year? We know Byrne will fire a coach after 1 year if he has to like he did with baseball
