I know what PER is. If a player is good at his role, why not feature that more? In other words instead of clearing out the area under the basket, have Hall crash more often.
I don't really care what Herbert's turnover rate is because imo it's on the coaches for asking him to handle the ball too much. He should just be used as a 3 and D player right now. Norris misses open shot after open shot and can't stay in front of anyone on defense. I don't really care that he's experienced. Norris simply isn't athletic enough to play well with our guys this year.
I get what your saying with Sexton, but telling him to just stay on his man would actually take less energy. Right now he will try to sneak off his guy to get steals. It works sometimes. More often than not it leads to a wide open three for the opponent.

The SWAC is the most intriguing conference this year. Parity abound.

Roles that are dependent on other people's play (assisted FGs) aren't easy to just "feature more" and are most likely to see diminished PER as role is expanded

I'd get it if it was just "higher" but Herb is avg nearly 4-5 TOs/40min despite not being a high usage player (~16% Poss% lower than avg)

Norris misses open shot after open shot.
Herb tho is shooting a paltry 40% 2FG and eFG% is 45.1% vs 51.4% for Norris. Not like Herb is some major shooting upgrade there

Is Herb that much better of a defender? I remember people saying he was a little Charmin to start the season. Also Norris used to be a solid/capable defender, has he just regressed?

At the beginning of the year I was trying to say this is the bullshite that comes w talented FR. They'll look like Lebron James when it works, but they'll also lose you games giving up open 3s
It's really hard to untrain bad hero ball habits in FR you only have for a few months.

You'd likely have more Ls playing that schedule than Bama, TN or many other top schedules
This isabkut ASU being shafted

Yea, the Arizona State thing is a total head scratcher. It's probably a symptom of the problem with "averaging" things - ASU played #347 Longwood, #328 Northern AZ and #296 Idaho St. That's my biggest pet peeve with almost all "SOS" rankings in college football and basketball.
On the other hand, maybe Ken just hates devils like Herm Edwards?

It's def an averaged thing for SOS
Overall ranking is because ASU isn't The most dominant teams against their opPonents this season, especially their lower tier opponents

Our good shot to get Trendon Watford might be reason enough to keep Avery for at least 2 more seasons.

Could just can Avery and hire Tom Crean if you want to lock in Watford
Not saying Avery fits the criteria, but I wouldnt keep a bad coach no matter the recruit. One and done talents are great pieces to finish a puzzle, they aren't corner pieces

I was really kidding
I love Watford though. He had an incredible game today. He's the type of borderline one and done guy that you could maybe get a couple years out of too.

Just saying I'd take a Tony Bennet over a Calipari recruiter (I actually think he is a good coach too) at non blue blood program any day of the week. Just look at Johnny Jones at LSU, bunch of top talent w above average restless
Going to be hard to judge AJ until after year 4 or 5 if you ask me. That's when you can identify true development trends

Texas A&M is a 1.5 point favorite

Surprised the spread isn't closer to 4-6

Home game plus their injury/suspension I assume
Either way, anyone betting on Alabama at less than a basket is a fool.

Rick Barnes has made Tennessee really good. Must be fun..

I feel unusually good about today’s game. I usually predict us to lose anytime we play a good/ranked team, but I think we win today. Idk why I feel like that but I do lol
Posted on 12/30/17 at 1:45 pm to Bamafan15
Definitely can win this game, and it would be great for our confidence. We re in better shape at this point than previous years even though I thought we'd be 10-2, but I think we re gonna win games that we re not expecting. The talent is there and I think the schedule has set us up to do well. We just have to find consistency on the glass and defending. Hopefully a 9 rotation is in the works , which would help roles get defined .

I agree that we'll win games we don't expect, but I also see us losing games against teams like LSU & Miss State. We play down to our competition.
