2015 Alabama Defense Sack Rankings and Derrick Thomas

"2015 DEFENSE MOVING UP IN SACK RANKINGS: The Crimson Tide defense has recorded 41 sacks so far this season, the most sacks by a Nick Saban coached team. The 41 sacks also ranks sixth all-time for team sack totals in a season. Next on the season total list is the 1995 team with 42. Alabama's all-time leader was the 1988 teams that recorded 60 sacks." - Rolltide.com
The most sacks that a Bama team has ever recorded in a single season was 60 sacks. Derrick Thomas had 27 of them. According to Al.com "During his 27-sack season, Thomas pushed quarterbacks back the length of two football fields - 204 yards for the year."
There will never be another Derrick Thomas. Definitely puts DT's career in perspective (52 sacks). It's a damn shame that Terrell Suggs has the most sacks in a career (44) and most sacks in a season (24)

He holds the Bama record for 5 blocked kicks. In '88 when he had 27 sacks, he had 44 QB Hurries

He also had 7 sacks in a single game in the NFL.

To really put in perspective how amazing Derrick Thomas was, he is the career leader in sacks at Alabama with 52. Behind him at #2 is Kindal Moorehead with 25 career sacks.... 2 less than Derrick Thomas had in one season.
Derrick Thomas is the single season sack leader with 27 (1988). Behind Derrick Thomas is..... Derrick Thomas with 18 (1987).

lol, when thinking that J. Allen and T. Williams are beasting at 7-9 sacks so far on the year, combined they are still 10.5 sacks behind DT's best season.
