2013 Alabama Football Recruiting Thread
Like I was talking to a friend who is one of the analysts for one of the major bama sites. Walker Jones really isn't getting recruited for his athletic ability but more he is what they refer to when talking shop as a "APR recruit" someone you know will come in, go to class, and finish school.

Yeah, you're probably right. 6'3" 240 lb linebackers who are smart and have a family history of being great athletes and hard workers are usually only given scholarships to help a teams APR. Saban does this kind of thing all the time. I mean look at Vinnie Sunseri, he only got a scholly because his dad was coaching at Bama at the time. He'll never play a single down at Ala....oh wait.

Josh McNeil told me- "Talking to coach Saban is almost like talking to the President of the United States."

McNeil also said- "O.J. Howard and I are going to be like Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez." We want to be the best TE combo ever."

I think coach Nuss is going to really take our offense to the next level. After watching the spring game and picking up these two commits, I have a feeling he is really going to build on what we did to the hapless Auburn D and the mighty Tigahs. Coach Mac's game plan in those two games seems like it might be our blue print going forward.

His academics are a good questions. Some reports there are struggles, he says he is an early enroll prospect. OJ is also an early enroll, correct?

Based on previous discussions ITT, McNeil's grades are fine (he has offers from Vandy and Notre Dame after all). The concern was over his coursework (core class completion I'm assuming). Supposedly he has enrolled in an accelerated college prep high school program that should take care of it.

I loved watching the BCSCG just to see our offense. If that is the offense of the future for Bama...and you combine it with our defense...GG NCAA.

Shifting TEs all over the place, hitting WRs who line up as TEs to confuse the D, running with an off balanced line because we can.

It's like Coach Mac's offense on steroids.

Yeah all of the talent is in place. If we start to complicate our o like our d we will be tough to stop.

About Cooper Bateman at the elite 11

quote:

• Cooper Bateman, Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood: Bateman is a tall and skinny quarterback with plenty of room to fill out. He looked much better at the start of the Elite 11 than he did at the start of The Opening. An Alabama commit, he was also one of the quarterbacks who hit the longer targets more frequently than others.

OJ is literally a 6'6" WR playing TE.

Ehh, Scout is the worst recruiting service. Though OJ is a 5 star talent.

OJ is a physical freak of nature. Glad to have OJ and McNeil in Crimson. I can see OJ being used more as a wideout with his measurables.
