What makes you think Evans has struggled with the playbook. I doubt he would be able to hold his own on run plays last year I think that's probably why he didn't play much.

The quote from Ragland says Evans needs to work on learning the playbook. He may not be a great run stopper but he's got enough ability as a pass rusher to have played more last season. If he's not on the same page as the other defenders, all his physical ability doesn't matter.

I was just thinking that we all know that Saban wants to stop the run first but I agree with the playbook part. I think that's the most important to Saban.

Some dude on BOL who claims to be at the scrimmage said we are using the big signs the hunh teams use even during practice. He also said that Coker and Cornwell are splitting times with the ones. Coker will be with the ones for one drill and then Cornwell will be with the ones on the next. I know all this is tifwiw.

we may be experimenting with signs since BS played poorly on the road with crowd noise. Signs may be easier to read then hand signals. Just a thought

Same dude:

quote:

Since I'm already in this thread, I'll drop a few things here:

Cornwell was the first QB in.

Dillon Lee already has 2 picks (1 from Cornwell, 1 from Coker).

Drake was 1st team kickoff return (with Black). Multiple sets with him and Henry both on the field already.

Is Dillon Lee finally going to beast out, or are our QB's that bad?

Ragland with INT off batted ball. 4th INT already today (Morris 2, Coker 1, Cornwell 1).

I think Eddie Jackson will be a stud. Super athletic, long, and doesn't mind tackling. Should get to a lot of balls.

1s vs 2s so far, but that should change shortly, assuming they follow the usual format.

Geno and EJ with the 1s seems weird considering Hootie and Ronnie have been with the 1s, though practice lines aren't always indicative of the depth chart.

This is a silly statement.

If signs help our QBs communicate with the coaches better in hostile environments, then why not use them?
