How do you play in the NFL and not know the playoff rules. I don't have a problem with getting the all first. A lot would agree with it. But you better score a TD and not play soft zone on D. 49er Def just got off the field, they were tired.

I could be mistaken, but i think the rules for OT changed this year - so they may have been thinking the old rules?

Shanahan's fault stems from saying he wanted the ball 3rd in OT. Which in that case a FG would win it.

But it was dumb to assume there would be a 3rd possession. And guess what, there wasn't.

There was zero chance of a 3rd posession because KC decided if this scenario happened they would've gone for the 2pt conversion.
