It could have been worse.it could have been his medial meniscus. Lateral only bears 30% of the weight that the medial does.

Re: meniscus repaired or removed. Debridement is removal. Only 10% of meniscal tears can be repaired and even then only 70-80% of those will heal. Best hope is a small tear and a reasonably normal career. Worst case is rapid progression to arthritis. Outcome very likely somewhere in the middle.

I posted here a few weeks back that Zion seems like a player who will be chronically injured during his career. It’s a shame because he seems like a great guy and the fans were really getting behind him and the franchise. Regrettably, I’m going to say that he will never play an impactful role in the NBA, such as leading a team to a championship. He’ll have some great games when he’s healthy, but recurring injuries will keep him sidelined a lot. I hope I’m wrong.
