Why did the white Sox do this, there's no fans to protect.

While you're at it, exchange the bats and balls for their nerf versions and stop keeping score. This world is getting too soft...

I do agree the world is getting too soft on a lot of things. But line drive foul balls coming off the bat at 110mph from about 80 feet away isnt one of them.

Having seen two horrific injuries from line drive foul balls at MLB games I applaud them for putting up safety nets. Soft? Nope. Smart? Yes sir.

Go tell that to the parents of the little girl who took a line drive to the face a couple weeks ago and was rushed to the hospital. There is no reason not to put protective netting to prevent injury. The nets can still be short enough so that a fly ball can get over the top of them so fans can catch it, but the line drives, flying bats, etc. is what you are trying to prevent.
