Ex-MLB Star David Justice Says Shohei Ohtani Is Better Than Babe Ruth
© Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
Who's better, Babe Ruth or Shohei Ohtani? Well, it's the big MLB debate right now. Former MLB star David Justice has made his pick and he’s going with the current two-way L.A. Angels star Ohtani...

quote:

“Babe Ruth played against farmers,” Justice said, via TMZ Sports. “Oh, and by the way, [Ruth] only played against one race. … You didn’t play against none of the Negro League players. You didn’t play against none of the Asian players. You didn’t play none of the Latin players. So, you only played against this population of players.”

"I don't want it to sound like I'm hating on Babe," Justice tells us. "It's just that I'm giving extra love to Ohtani."
Well, who gets your vote, Ruth or Ohtani?

Babe did it his whole career while drinking and smoking almost every night. Ohtani has been doing it a couple years. Let's let the career finish before we compare him to one of the GOATs.

Babe chugged a pitcher of beer, at ten bratwursts, then hit a dinger.

Babe didn't have to listen to shitty rap music in the locker room.

I remember when they said Tiger was better than Jack and would easily break his majors record. HaHa!

Tiger at his peak was far more dominant than Jack without question

Well, it's true, but David Justice isn't saying anything that people shouldn't already know. If you played sports like I did coming up, then you should know that you just can't compare an athlete from the past era to today's athletes, there's just no comparison. Smh Athlete's today are bigger, stronger, faster, and everything else. The Babe was something in his time, I'm sure, but today I'm not to sure he'd stand out.

Babe is dead so I'd expect someone living to be better

It's amazing what he's doing, but give it a few year. There have been numerous players over the years that have looked fantastic, then for one reason of another, didn't live up to the unrealistic expectations.

This is true of any modern era player though realistically... this is their only job. Get more money than kings and queens. Their whole life is devoted to being at peak performance. It just sounds good as a clickbait headline, but yes. The worst player in the MLB currently is probably better than Babe Ruth if they were put on the same field today. That’s true of any sport

I think guys like MJ and Jim Brown would still be among the elite in today's leagues. Its definitely true of baseball though.

Vacherie Saint - Of course Big Jim would stand out today, he was the prototype for today's RB way back then. But are you serious about MJ?? Lmao MJ would take apart today's NBA, he's dominate and destroy LeBron. Lol

When Babe played the outfields were deep if they had a fence. Inside the park homers were a lot more common in his time. While Babe is only credited with 10 ITP homers the outfielders often played the wrong depth. Ruth was a powerful batter but he was an average athlete even for his time.

He’s in better shape than Babe. But there was no one as dominant at the time they played than Ruth was at the time he played. Otherwise, I understand his argument.

Ohtani is a lot better then The Babe ever was. I’m sure Babe Ruth had 1/20th of the training Ohtani.

Tiger in Texas - Outdoorreb is telling the truth in some regards, if y'all think an athlete from the past can compete with an athlete from today's ball. Then y'all are seriously tripping on something!

If Babe played today, with the skills he had in his prime, he'd never make it out of AA. If Ohtani played back then, with the skills he possesses now, the sport would have been renamed Shoheiball back in 1920.
