Guys, do not propose until you are completely certain it's a "yes". ESPECIALLY when you're going to do it at a public event. This poor dude at the Columbia Fireflies Game knows...

He dodged a bullet. In 10 years she is going to be about 238. She is just beginning to lose that battle.

This. Public proposals, as bad as they were, are made infinitely worse with social media and cellphones. I googled "Columbia Fireflies" and google's top suggested search was "Columbia Fireflies proposal". Lots of articles about this, with videos from different angles. It's tough enough for a guy to put himself out there like that, and yea he should have been sure of her answer before doing so, throw the guy a lifeline and help him out.

The guy making a public proposal is a dick. Putting someone you love on the spot, basically removing any element of choice from one of the biggest decisions of her life, is a dick move. You don't peer-pressure someone into agreeing to marry you.

PS. If you want to propose in public, you damn well better be ready for whatever answer you get.

Can't tell if these rejections are real or fake.

100% fake. It's a social media/marketing ploy for more attention.

How can she say no after that presentation? If great dancing and a classy proposal doesn't woo her, nothing will.

Apparently the couple are happily married. They did the "proposal" as a practical joke: LINK

What is the goal in faking something like this? I really don't get the joke.

The organization is just trying to cover its tracks by calling a cheap publicity stunt a "practical joke". There wasn't a young staffer involved. It was a pretty clever move by their marketing department to get plenty of exposure through social media.

She looked to be a little on the chunky side.
