In his post-practice press conference on Thursday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked what he expects out of quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in LSU's season opener vs. Clemson on Saturday.

Kelly laid out three simple objectives for Nussmeier on Saturday:
quote:

"Manage the run game and get us in the right run plays," Kelly said.

"Make the right checks in their pressure packages. And I've said this before, but zero (yards) is a good play. If you do that, the other things are going to come to you in the realm of the game. "

"If he does that, we are going to have a really good day offensively."

I'd like to know what keys CBK gave Sloan to not call a shite RZ game.

That’s what I’m most worried about. We have to score in the RZ, no more of that going for it on 4th only to walk away in defeat at the 1 yard line.

not sure why zero yards is a good play. Better than a loss or sack I guess. But not a good play.
I suppose he's trying to say don't throw it into coverage or get a sack, but just throw it away?
