During his press conference on Tuesday, LSU head coach Brian Kelly was asked about linebacker Harold Perkins and his play in the season opener vs. USC.
Kelly said he likes having Perkins in the middle of LSU's defense and expects him to make a significant jump next week.

"I like him where he is. I like him inside the core of our defense," Kelly said.
"What Blake (Baker) talked to him about is that we need to get him to narrow his focus a little more. He has a tendency that he wants to do a little too much. He's so eager to want to make plays because we have put him in that playmaker position so much. When you work in the areas that he works, your focus has to narrow down a lot more."
"The team's biggest improvements are made from week 1 to week 2. You are going to see a huge improvement. Now that he has played in the box, in a game, and we can get his focus narrowed and get his eyes where they need to be, once we get that, it's going to be a different look and will help him immensely."
