While participating in the Rivals camp this week, four-star LSU wide receiver commit Jabari Mack announced that he has shut down his recruitment.

Mack, a 6-0, 200-pound receiver from Destrehan, La., committed to LSU back in March over Texas, Texas A&M, and Ohio State.

He is rated the No. 4 overall player in the state and the No. 6 overall wide receiver in the country for the class of 2026, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

I hope this is true. But I can’t blame the recruit. A HS kid could be set on going to a school with no intention of looking elsewhere. But another school comes in with an offer he can’t refuse. What’s he supposed to do? This is possibly life changing money.

When you have suited up and have bled purple and gold on the field while representing this program with the pride of tradition honoring those who have come before, only then will we accept your commitment. Because it is only then we will know whether or not you are committed. Boot up, show up, show out. These are the terms. Good luck.

Glad to hear this but sad to see it’s necessary. Isn’t this what a “commitment” used to mean?
