Former Florida State wide receiver Destyn Hill has reportedly transferred to LSU, according to Sam Spiegelman.

Hill, a 6-0, 194-pound sophomore from New Orleans (Edna Karr), appeared in 10 games with two starts during his freshman season in 2023, recording six receptions for 87 yards.

He suffered an injury in spring camp that forced him to miss the 2024 season.

Is this a delayed trade for Brown? We sent the Florida kid back and got the Louisiana kid in return?

I love bringing the Louisiana boys home. In all the portal and NIL madness, it's fun to have the hometown kids back where they belong

This one is objectively mid. Not the WR I was hoping to see pop up.

Why are we signing players with season ending injuries in 2023? With 6 receptions for 87 yards. He did not play all of 2024 and is he physically ready for full contact and can even play in 2025'? No experience.

BK is using the portal to build for the future as well as getting talent we need immediately

Kelly swinging for the fences on proven talent instead of dropping 12 mill on high school hopefuls. Wisdom! I trust him and like where we are headed.

Are we really calling 6 catches for 87 yards “proven talent”?

You can look at it from another perspective as well.

I know two prominent boosters at major Texas schools, and both have expressed their frustration with the current landscape. They’re tired of pouring money into unproven talent—young athletes who don’t seem to grasp the meaning of commitment. What does that tell you? For one, regardless of my financial contributions to LSU, I find it deeply troubling to consider investing significant sums into high school recruits when I wouldn’t even compensate my executive team at that level. The NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) era has fundamentally damaged college football. Here’s a startling tidbit to consider, in the last signing period, two recruits demanded more than $1.5 million each, yet neither of them had played the equivalent of two full seasons of high school football.
At some point, we have to ask—where is this headed, and what kind of message are we sending about commitment, hard work, and value?
