LSU Falls On The Road To No. 16 Florida, 79-61

GAINESVILLE, FL. – The LSU men’s basketball team fell to the 16th-ranked Florida, 79-61, on Tuesday night inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
With the loss, LSU drops to 13-6, while Florida improves to 14-5 on the season.
In the first half, LSU shot 10-of-25 (40%) from the floor, 3-of-5 (60%) from distance and 3-of-6 (50%) from the free throw line. Florida went 14-of-35 (40%) and 4-of-14 (28.6%) from deep. LSU went into intermission trailing by 12 points, 38-26.
In the second half, the Gators extended their lead, outscoring the Tigers 41-35. LSU made 14-of-31 (45.2%) field goals and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line. Florida recorded 14-of-33 shots for 42.4 percent and five from deep. LSU tallied 15 rebounds to Florida’s 27.
Michael Nwoko led LSU in scoring with 17 points on 7-of-10 from the field. Nwoko also tallied six rebounds. Max Mackinnon and Marquel Sutton scored 10 points.
Urban Klavzar was the leading scorer for the Gators, finishing with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go with five treys.
The Tigers are back on the court Saturday, Jan. 24, traveling to face Arkansas. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
