LSU Drops Road Contest At Auburn, 88-74

AUBRUN, AL. – The LSU men’s basketball team fell to Auburn, 88-74, on Tuesday night inside the Neville Arena.
With the loss, LSU drops to 15-15, while Auburn improves to 16-14 on the season.
The teams stayed neck-and-neck to keep the score tight throughout the first half, and featured five times tied and 14 lead changes. The Auburn Tigers pulled through to hold the 41-34 advantage over the LSU Tigers heading into intermission. LSU shot 13-of-24 (54.2%) from the floor, while Auburn went 15-of-30 (50%). Both teams tallied 10 assists and 20 points in the paint. LSU drained three treys and Auburn had four. LSU also outrebounded Auburn 16-12.
In the second half, Auburn cranked up the momentum to pull away. Paced by Tahaad Pettiford with 17 points, Auburn went on to outscore LSU, 47-40. LSU made 11-of-20 (55%) field goals, 14-of-21 (66.7%) from the free throw line and four three-pointers. Auburn recorded 16-of-27 shots for 59.3 percent, 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the line and six treys.
Michael Nwoko led the LSU Tigers in scoring with 19 points on 4-of-6 from the field to go with 11-of-13 free throws and five rebounds. Pablo Tamba and Jalen Reece both earned 12 points. Reece knocked down two treys and Tamba racked nine rebounds. Marquel Sutton also scored double figures with 10 points.
Tahaad Pettiford was the leading scorer for the Auburn Tigers, finishing with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting and four treys.
The Tigers are back on the court Saturday, March 7th, returning home to face Texas A&M. The game will tip off at 5:00 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
