Former LSU guard Eric Gaines is transferring t0 UAB where he will play for coach Andy Kennedy, the school announced Tuesday.

UAB head men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy has announced the addition of Power Five transfer Eric Gaines to the roster. Gaines, a standout guard at LSU the past two seasons, joins Ledarrius and Ty Brewer as the three student-athletes Kennedy has added to the 2022-23 UAB men's basketball roster.

Gaines, a 6-2 guard from Lithonia, Georgia, played in all 34 games for LSU this past season, averaging 9.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game as a sophomore. The second-year guard reached double figures 14 times, including five straight games against Power Five opponents Tennessee, Texas A&M, TCU, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
