Truth or Consequences time for Hess. Either he proves he's a Friday night starter or Manieri has some serious decisions to make.

agreed. I'll just assume that Manieri knows more than I do at this point, but if I'm making room for Walker in the weekend rotation (which I think is a good call) I wouldn't do it by replacing Hill. Hess has to be on the chopping block after this weekend unless he shines.

If Hess can turn into a reliable Friday night guy it would be huge for us in the postseason with Marceaux, Walker, and Hill starting in between. Having 4 quality starters that can eat up innings instead of using Johnny Wholestaff would give us a much better chance of a deep CWS run.

tgerb8: Hill suffering from "soreness." This for real or lip service to get walker in the rotation?

Elder has some nice statistics, but they're compiled against 1-6 Purdue and 1-6 UL-Lafayette. He's gonna be facing a different animal on Friday.
