Former LSU standout Kevin Gausman is headed to Chicago after the Toronto Blue Jays agreed to trade the veteran right-hander to the Cubs ahead of the MLB trade deadline. The move gives the Cubs an experienced arm for their postseason push while marking the end of Gausman's four-plus seasons in Toronto.
Gausman pitched at LSU from 2010-12 before being selected No. 4 overall in the 2012 MLB Draft by the Orioles. Since then, he's developed into one of baseball's most dependable starters, earning multiple All-Star selections and now joining a Cubs club looking to strengthen its rotation for the stretch run.
The 35-year-old Gausman, who is set to become a free agent after the season, is 5-10 with a 4.38 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 2026.
