Tempers are still hot just days after the crazy news that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf would be merging with Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund pumping a large cash infusion into the PGA. While speaking to The Fire Pit Collective's Alan Shipnuck, one anonymous LIV executive mentioned tournaments in 2024 where some PGA players could form LIV teams for competition, not including Rory McIlroy...

This team concept in golf I think is really dumb, except for the Ryder cup where you rep your country.

I could care less about pro golf “teams” with random players on them and I don’t see how or why fans will keep up with these teams.

Might not be the popular thing here but I admire McIlroy for his conviction on this. I wasn't a big fan before but I kind of feel sorry for the guy. He was standing up for what the thought was the right thing. I'm OK with that.

conviction? Bitching about a competitive tour? Competition is a good thing - and long how the PGA very quickly found a lot of extra money for their players, and now have merged. LIV won this battle and the PGA Tour caved - and the PGA Tour players will come out FAR ahead. Sure, most of the LOV critique is that it was driven by Saudi money, but we buy their oil, sell them military equipment, and they're an ally in the Middle East. And Rory spouts his nonsense with that Nike swoosh on his shirt and hat. I guess Rory has morality amnesia when it comes to China when they're paying him tens of millions.
