Bruce Feldman with Fox Sports is reporting that Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has emerged as the leading candidate for the head coaching job at South Carolina.

Steve Spurrier resigned as the head coaching at South Carolina in October and was replaced by Gamecock offensive line coach Shawn Elliott on a interim basis.

The Gamecocks are 3-8 and 1-7 in the SEC.

KS could get a HC job many if not most of the last 3-4 years.
Why leave a very sure thing that pays really well ?
