quote:

The 39-year-old Smart was the 2012 AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year and the 2009 Broyles Award winner as college football's top assistant coach. His D is No. 1 in the nation in yards per play; No. 2 in run defense and No. 3 in the nation in total defense.
Steve Spurrier resigned as the head coaching at South Carolina in October and was replaced by Gamecock offensive line coach Shawn Elliott on a interim basis.

KS could get a HC job many if not most of the last 3-4 years.
Why leave a very sure thing that pays really well ?
With the best mentor(s) in the college game ?
