Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson will earn his first career start on Saturday vs. Florida State after spending three years on the bench.

Simpson spoke with reporters on Tuesday and shared some advice that he received from former head coach Nick Saban about his upcoming start.

quote:

“I was like, ‘What do I need to tell myself going into a game like this?’” Simpson said. “How to not get so anxious, how to not get nervous, how to not make it bigger than what it is?

“He was like, just play within yourself. Make sure that you keep your team out of negative plays and negative drives. He always said that if you end the drive with a punt, a kick– PAT, field goal or a punt, then you know you’re in good shape and you’re not dead in the water. I’m taking that approach of making sure that, hey, I’m gonna make sure that I march down the field and do everything I can to move the ball forward and not go backwards.”

Bama's biggest offseason move was Milroe moving on. Dude had 3 more fumbles against Green Bay last week.

Concentrating on not doing the negative...usually gets ya the negative.

If only Nick Saban had known this, he may have had a successful career.
