Maybe because there were no actual results at that point?

If you didn't hear how bad our DBs were before the OM game then that's on you. Especially with all the criticism that Briscoe was getting and the fact everyone was chalking the OM game up as a blowout loss before it was played because of how bad our DBs were playing.

Yea,because NOBODY makes predictions about teams and their strengths and weakness before the season starts.

We had the #1 pass defense in the country returning plus
Smith transfering in from Bama. There wasn't one person on this board who thought secondary would be a weakness in the preseason.

I'm talking preseason compared to after the OM game and show me one person on here talking about our lack of talent or how bad we were going to be during the preseason. They sure as Hell came out of the woodwork after the OM game.

No. I'm pretty sure when the statement was made they were talking about the whole team. In fact, I have seen numerous times people on here saying this was the worst team in a decade, and so on.

The narrative seems to change depending on whether we win or lose, though.
If we lose another game the cupboard will be bare again.

And I also heard on the internet how horrible our db's were...of course that criticism didn't take place til AFTER the OM game.Didn't hear a peep during the pre-season.

I can be critical when it is deserved....but I also try to be fair. I believe it was djsdawg that was saying the secondary was overrated before the season started. I agreed somewhat, but said I hoped we would be a top 5 secondary in the SEC. However, djsdawg was saying this preseason. he's the only one that I can think of, though.

Someone mentioned last week that they noticed simplified blocking schemes, but they still weren't really good Saturday. Montravious Adams lived in the backfield

Peter Buck did. I noticed it a little bit, too, but don't really watch just the OL.

Adams is a pretty talented guy. He's going to make his plays. Auburn has a pretty good OL, but Trent Thompson dominated Saturday. He looked like a man among boys.

It was the worst team in a decade and still might be. It is also a very young team that is getting better.

Couldn't believe the coaches told Gary that TT wouldn't see the field that much. They brought him in in the second quarter and he started to dominate. You don't keep those guys like that off the field. Special player

I was referring to the secondary and you thought the secondary would be a a strength as well.

He said in a press conference that the secondary was a weakness. Everybody lost their shite. He was right, but fortunately it's gotten better since OM.

so you're saying a unit that was supposed to be pretty good looked about as bad as words could describe and people were pissed? I mean that's kinda common sense here.

And they still aren't a weakness. There were some new guys and young guys playing early in teh season that had growing pains, which is to be expected. They've certainly come into their own and we're now the 17th ranked pass defense (if we gave up 10 yards less per game passing we'd be 10th).

Once again, where did he post it on here? And his alter?

Wait, you mean a 1st year coach down playing his talent?
Unheard of!!!!!!

Is there one part of the team besides RB that he didn't think would be a weakness????

Really? Worse than 2010? That would be a pretty tall order. I guess you don't subscribe to the axiom, "A team is as good or bad as it's record says it is."

Actually, I don't believe it either, but I understand what it is saying.

Nope, just heard how we didn't have the talent in the secondary to compete with OM WR's...big difference

Don't think he said anything about the TEs or LBs.

My point was that anybody who didn't hear some chatter about our team maybe not being that talented wasn't paying attention or was just tuning out anything they didn't want to hear.

It's been awhile since we have had a player dominate a game to the degree Trent did Saturday....on the defensive side of the ball, anyway. It was, imo, his best performance to date. It's always hard to tell sometimes, because we tend to base our impressions on statistics. A DT can dominate without making many plays by absorbing double teams and tying up the LOS. Just make a difference in a play by making penetration.

Trent did it all Saturday.

Who said that? Our OL,WR talent were obvious concerns along with the experience with the QB and DL.
