We have some good young and big CBs with sometime in our system that will hopefully match up better with sec receivers than our small converted WR dbs we used last year. Returning the 2 deep on defensive line. Ragland came on really strong last year and was probably our best lb.

Can you name the only (pretty sure he is the only one) SEC QB to beat a saban coached bama team twice?
Posted on 2/8/15 at 8:50 am to ChexMix
I doubt it. Mostly depends on what they get from the new QB.
Posted on 2/8/15 at 8:54 am to SummerOfGeorge
Everything depends on offensive line and while we lost 3 starters last year.
They were up and down all year, mostly due to injury.
A lot of guys with playing experience returning just due to the fact we had lots of guys playing snaps due to those injuries

The 2015 group will unquestionably be more talented, just gotta hope they are seasoned enough and ready.

Aren't the FOUR games you speak of the FOUR SEC road games? Those are the four games that make or break a teams season most every year.
That's the true test of an offense. If it can go on the road in the SEC and still be successful. If you compare the SEC home numbers for the bama "O" compared to it's SEC road numbers, the bama "O" did seem to struggle a bit.

Let's be frank here, though. Everyone who posted in these threads 365 days ago thought the combo of Kiffin and whoever our QB was meant we would lose 4 regular season games.
So, everything in here should be taken with one ton of salt.

West Virginia, SECC, and the playoff game were all on the road, just at neutral sites. The Ole Miss game was a road game, but it was also early in the season, Sims' first game ever in an opponent's home stadium as the starting qb, and Ole Miss was an outstanding defense. Which of those factors played a part?
The whole point is that there are all sorts of factors in this type of analysis, and when you define your group so narrowly that you look at 4 games and throw out the other 10, your conclusion is going to be based on broad, sweeping generalizations from a minimal amount of evidence.

Excellent point, though I would change the word "thought" to the more accurate verb "believed".

The OL should actually be improved. Bradley Bozeman, Grant Hill, and Shank Taylor all had starts and lots of PT. Dom Jackson will be a senior and will figure in.
Cam Robinson should be an excellent LT and Ryan Kelly is a veteran starter at C. Plus we have signed some very good players that redshirted. We will be ahead of where we were last year at the start of the year.

They might struggle in the beginning, but we really don't know what kind of offense they will run. I think it will be a little more slow paced with more focus on ball control.

Uh.you were a gifted td and kickoff out of bounds away from a 4 loss season. Bama made the plays needed to win but dont act like bama wasnt very close to 4 losses.

And we were 6 points away from playing in a winnable National Championship game, losing in a game with a bounce or two we could have won.
See how it works?

Gotta love all these lsu and auburn bama experts. Our oline loses 3, only real loss is kouandjio. whichever combo of bozeman, hill, taylor, and jackson replaces them will be 10x as physical. Only real wr loss is cooper, white and jones were meh. We have tons of talent there, including 2 former#1 high school recievers (when ridley gets here). We will be much larger and more physical overall at wr.m jo 9 Same with rb, tons of talent, bringing in the #1 rb this year with Davis, getting drake back. We lose vogler at te but gain hentages, who knows how to both catch and block, which will be a nice change. If it finally clicks for oj he could turn into the major threat he had the potential to be. At qb, we will get to see what coker does with the benefit of a season and 2 more camps in the system instead of a couple weeks of fall practice. He looked good when he was in this year, especially in his later play (mostly struggled with the game management parts). If not him, we have 2 really talented guys on the team in bateman and cornwell, and bringing in the #2 qb in barnett (whos already on campus). i think we will be at least add good as last year, but less flashy and more physical based on personnel. On the defense we at going to be sick. dline is probably best in the country, we get ragland back in the lbs to run the show, he will probably be the best lb in the country next year, we have all our corners returning, plus 2 more 5 star guys in this class, will get to humphrey play. Only thing I'm worried about is safety, lots of uncertainty there

Running game will be better, passing game worse....pretty much a wash on offense. Defense could be special though if we can find some players in the secondary to go along with Cyrus. Like championship special, and we have the best punter in the nation that will win us the field position battle every game. I'll take our odds over anyone else's in 2015.

Since then, LSU has been on the decline and lost to Alabama 4 times in a row.

Point taken about our corners returning, but Cyrus was very solid at corner and returns...and with all those young 5 star corners you have to think one of them will start to play like it.
