Jury is still out, but I sense a verdict coming.

This guy was all over the original thread, spouting his distaste for a gay football player, and being all holier-than-thou. He apparently feels Sam should go into seclusion and pray the gay away, or at the very least not subject anyone else to his gayness, especially in a locker room. And he looking for anything he can find to help him feel less alone on that ledge.

You have an odd perspective if you think those talking shite behind Sam's back deserve an award for acting like football players and doing their damn job. Of course the fact they could lose their scholarships, playing time, and futures if they didn't act like football players, show up, practice and play probably had something to do with how 'nice' they were about it.

They weren't going to lose their scholarships for tweeting that there was a gay dude in the locker room. They'd have been fricked up by the team.

Everyone is a hypocrite. I think homosexuality is pretty gross, but it doesn't effect me. If they want to do what they do, that's fine. I'll support them.

I support people's right to be gay if they want, but the idea of dudes banging each other grosses me out.

Am I a hypocrite?

As to not 'outing' him until he left?! You think that was 'service' they did for Sam? We're talking about homophobes who fear the gay cooties and the flak they'd take for playing with a gay teammate.

No doubt there were supporters on the team but the ones who were homophobes who've now turned public hypocrites deserve to be called out and he did so without naming names which is more than that kind of person deserves.

The teammates who stood by Sam don't deserve praise not the fools who talked shite behind his back.

What's interesting about the dynamic here is that Eric Waters probably was supportive of Sam and his lifestyle (so am I, by the way). And Eric Waters probably took some grief about it himself. And here are Mizzou fans trashing him for it and for pointing out that his teammates aren't the open minded saints they are now pretending to be.

So we've got Mizzou fans' knees jerking and castigating a teammate of Sam's that probably was a strong supporter.

But because he is not bowing to a bogus narrative about how wonderful everything was all year - and is shining a bit of a light on the anti-gay bigotry within the Mizzou team - he is to be crucified.

Wow.

calling people out isn't the issue, it's that he did it on twitter like a coward. Nothing he said was surprising and it really isn't his deal anyway - nobody asked him.

If Sam thought he'd been treated poorly, he could have said it in his interview. If Sam didn't have a problem, why did Waters have to insert his self up in something that didn't really have to do with him anyway?

Dawg this thing really seems to have you worked up. Perhaps you need to talk this out with someone.

Or snuggle with someone

Yeah, very cowardly. Because no one would ever hear of it or know that he is the one that said it.

Seriously?

Fine argument. And about all you've got.

I mean, hey, if it doesn't look good for you, throw out the insults!

Yeah, "seriously". If I have a problem, I'd go up to the person and confront them directly. In Pussyland where you must be from, Twitter is a manly medium for confronting someone...but just make sure to not call out anyone by name.

So you believe Eric Waters to be a liar? Why? Were you there? He was. And he says, publicly, that half the team are a bunch of hypocrites.

Do you not get it, or are you just in denial?

Well then, let me know how it goes when you go up to Eric Waters and confront him personally. Unless, of course, you live in "Pussyland".

Geez.

So you don't think Eric Waters will be facing his teammates again?

You do know he has an immense amount of courage for doing what he did, right?

And you do know he is sticking up for his teammate Sam, right?

It's just you don't like what it says about your favorite team, so you dump on the guy.

But Eric Waters is the coward.

Why is this an all or nothing proposition for you? This is an honest question from someone who has either been trolled by you enough for an honest answer or someone that really doesn't get it.

I've been in gay bars with lesbian friends supporting them in their favorite bar and been grossed out by the dudes making out in the bathroom.

Do you really not understand that people can be grossed out by homosexuality and yet support their friends/teammates in their homosexuality?

Go back and read what Eric Waters said. Does that sound like the team supporting Sam to you?

Or is Eric Waters pointing out gross hypocrisy?

Now, I wasn't there so I don't know what went on. But it's interesting that you don't seem to get that. Could it be you're a bit too close to the situation?

Just think about it.

My friend was a closeted gay person for most of the time I knew her. We all knew she was gay, but it was what it was.
When she came out, I thought it was awesome. She told me before she told everyone else, but I didn't say anything to anyone unt she did. I did what Mizzou did

I still think gay sex is weird and that wasnt a a secret to anyone, but me supporting my friend and saying what I've said here and about how gross I think it is doesnt make me a hypocrite.

If I had an Eric waters calling me out afterwards because I supported her, I'd think he/she was a douche.

And you think a general statement, not directly calling out anyone, on twitter was the right way to handle it?

You're the only one that is surprised that all the football players weren't cool with it...that makes you either really stupid or a troll.

Which one is it?

I guarantee you that since Eric Waters was not just his friend but also Sam's roommate he took a world of grief over it. That gives him every right to say what he's said.

Mizzou fans taking aim at Waters need to hold their fire or at least point their guns at the right people - the passive aggressive backbiting homophobes talking about Sam behind his back that are now trying to cash someone else's check as if it were their own.

There are people to be praised in this story but the lying hypocrites aren't those people.
