Pretty sweet how we've managed to get under Georgia and USC fans' skins after a few seasons. Mauk is going to have you dawgs rabid.

And you're a bit of a hypocrite. Or your football team is. According to a Mizzou football player. Oh. I guess he's a jackass too.

I guess he should've just stayed with the company line. That's what non-jackasses do. Got it.

Teammates may have talked shite, but they didn't out him until he was ready to go. Hell, the program even protected him from scrutiny.

Protected him from scrutiny?

You mean, protected Mizzou from scrutiny. Then after signing day - no more protection!

Very courageous.

People can have opinions. You don't have to sit there and encourage him to be a homosexual, you can even criticize it.

However, Mizzou is a strong enough team and a strong enough family that even though some people may have disagreed with it, they kept it quiet and didn't out him.

There isn't a single other program in this conference besides maybe Vandy that would have done that and there are few in the country that would have handled it as gracefully as Mizzou did.

Mizzou has set the precedent for how this situation is to be handled in the future, and it's the best possible precedent to have been set for the situation.

You're welcome.

I just wonder if Sam enjoyed playing football like I would have if I got to play with a bunch of girls.

Me? Try Eric Waters. The tight end on your own team. Or do you not want to face that little uncomfortable fact?

You're right, I'll put my faith in good ole Mista Chowwww who I'm sure isn't looking for attention and is genuinely determined for everyone to know the real truth, that in a locker room of college kids, some kids weren't totally down with the gay.

Yes, because the way this was handled coming out before signing day would have really hurt the program.

Are you implying that recruits wouldn't have signed with Mizzou if they knew there was a gay dude on the team?

Mizzou does what it does, and the football program is a family. If anything, this would help whenever it came out. Hell, I wish he would have come out and the story about how Mizzou handled it would have come out before signing day.

No. You're mocking and persecuting Eric Waters for having the courage to speak truth in the face of the company line (lie).

Good for you!

You still don't seem to grasp the point. It's not about his lifestyle. It's about how the team, coaches and administration didn't let that lifestyle matter on the field. As a team, they worked through it, and didn't treat him differently as a player. But that doesn't fit your Mizzou-bashing narrative, right?

Nice. This is why you are going insane because of Eric Waters' simple truth. Your family was hella disfunctional.

Let me guess, anti-gay posters are White Knighting for Eric Waters and pro-gay posters are White Knighting for Sam?

Seems about right.

Wake up. And talk to Eric Waters. I just linked to his comments. And his observations from the inside - something you know absolutely nothing about - is a bit different than your quote above.

Don't you think you should wait for things to settle before you decide what the narrative is? I mean, if you're being objective and not a Mizzou homer?

Eric Waters, your own player, is bashing the team for hypocrisy. Do you not understand that? Do you know if he's lying? No? Then why are your already taking a side against him?

Think about it.

You do realize that you're calling Michael Sam a hypocrite...he's the one that did the interview where he said this stuff.

You act like the university itself issued a statement claiming that everybody, at 100% of the time, were always supportive of Sam. Even Franklin said he didn't agree with but was supportive of Sam.

If you're threatened by a gay football player who will be a lot more successful and make a ton of more money than you, just say it.

I don't think I'm going insane.

I don't think Eric Waters is going insane.

If people talked shite about the fruitcake in the locker room, that's the normal expectation for a football locker room.

I'm proud the players and team didn't bring it public until he was ready to go public. Like I said before, there are very few programs I think would do the same. I'd even say there would have been a bunch of tweets about the gay dude on the team during the season with a lot of other programs.

Sorry you're trying to find fault in the normalcy of people while ignoring that this wasn't a story until it was determined it needed to be by the subject of the story.

Ah, here it is. Should I check the Help Board to see if the Mizzou contingent is demanding I be banned? Seems to be y'all's M.O.

Good thing Eric Waters doesn't post on here or you'd be ready to string him up.

I'm not pro-gay by any means. However, the world in which we live make it an acceptable thing. It's not for me, but it doesn't effect me and I don't have much to say about it.
The fact that the Mizzou Tigers as a whole didn't feel they needed to make it a story until Sam wanted to come out is something I'm extremely proud of.

It's stupid because everybody knows there were people that didn't love the situation, but they successfully dealt with it as a team. Then this one dumbshit goes calling out his teammates.

You should check out his tweets directly. He was calling out teammates who were acting like they always supported Sam when in fact they were talking about him behind his back. If you saw people you heard constantly talk shite about your roommate and friend turn around and act like media saints would you be cool with that? THAT is what he's reacting to.

As to 'handling it' of course they handled it but individuals don't get to pin an award on their chests for being cool and supportive when they weren't. Calling out those who are attempting to do that is absolutely the right thing for a friend to do.
