Sounds like he's trying to grab some of the spotlight because he's a mediocre TE.

Bingo.

And the persecution of Waters begins. Don't you think if there's a bunch of hypocrisy going on in this story that Waters is actually pretty courageous to report it? Or are you going to throw him under the bus because he doesn't fit the accepted narrative?

ome? According to Waters it was about half the team.

It must have been less than half since he was voted team MVP by his fellow players :)

So if you're gay, people will sometimes say mean things about you behind your back?

As a heterosexual, I've never experienced someone doing that to me but I can only imagine how horrible it must have been.

You could easily win MVP with less than half the vote. Happens all the time.

It's stupid because everybody knows there were people that didn't love the situation, but they successfully dealt with it as a team. Then this one dumbshit goes calling out his teammates.

Let's say you think coworker A is wearing a stupid looking shirt. You tell coworker B that coworker A looks like a jackass, all in good fun, nothing hateful. Then coworker B tells coworker A what you said.

Yeah, coworker B is "keepin it real" but it doesn't make him any less of a douche.

Did you think it would be entirely kum-ba-ya? They're human. The important thing is that they all respected him enough to not let it effect how they played, and they didn't out him. Geez, dude.

Exactly this.

Whoever was talking shite was team enough to not out the kid. It's whatever.

People talked shite about a gay dude, news at 11.

Love that Mizzou unity now.

Another Mizzou football player reveals what was really going on, and Mizzou fans turn on him because it ruins the "feel good" story.

I honestly feel sorry for the guy. He's telling the truth and is about to get crucified for it. By his own "fans".

I don't see how someone disagreeing with his lifestyle is a problem.

Apparently the unified and all-accepting Mizzou fans don't like it.

Yeah. I'm a troll. Eric Waters is a troll. Whatever makes you feel better, I guess.

So you're looking for a way to shite on Mizzou and the Mizzou football team, got it.

You find me another SEC team that would handle an SEC star player coming out as a homorsexual as well as Mizzou did and I'll eat my fricking hat.

You'll all have you opportunity to handle it with a lot less scrutiny in the future and I guarantee you won't handle it nearly as well, even after Mizzou wrote the book on how to handle it.

This whole thing is a class study in how an openly gay athlete isn't a detriment to the on field product.

Shocking.

Who would have thought that people could play through something like that?

Since it's now customary for everybody to tell the truth at all times, even when keeping their mouths shut is the best and most respectful thing to do, it's prudent for me to tell you that you're a bit of a jackass.

Problem is that you don't understand that someone can vocally disagree with somebody's lifestyle and still be supportive of that person.

Yeah, Mizzou wrote the book. But it was fiction. Now we're getting to see a bit of a glimpse into the truth of it and, predictably, Mizzou fans are handling it just great!

Me? Try Eric Waters. The tight end on your own team. Or do you not want to face that little uncomfortable fact?

Teammates may have talked shite, but they didn't out him until he was ready to go. Hell, the program even protected him from scrutiny.

If you've got an issue with how it's being handled, that's on you.
