I think so. Cam would probably be second.

Johnny football had a feel for the game that was unreal. He was very accurate and his scrambling was a nightmare for defenses.

I watched some of his NFL highlights as well, and his team was flat garbage. He threw for over 300 yards versus the Steelers and they had 500 yards versus the Ravens. They couldn't score though, which isn't all his fault.

If he'd have kept his head on straight, he could have been at least a pretty good NFL QB in the right circumstances.

Statistically I would say yes.

Holds almost every SEC offensive record for a QB

I would still take Cam. He was unreal in college. Johnny had more magic to his play though

He won the Heisman as a freshman. He destroyed OU and pretty much everyone except LSU that year

Newton was better than Manziel. When nothing else worked, Newton could put his shoulder down and get 4 yards. Manziel couldn't do that.

Tebow just wasn't as accurate as Manziel. Tebow couldn't extend plays and throw across his body to wide open receivers. Manziel made a living off this

Outside SEC, but how good was Michael Vick at Va Tech in 1999. No one has single handily led a team to a championship game berth since he did.

Not a true freshman tbf. Cam and Tebow are both undoubtedly better

I'll take Manziel as a passer. He didn't have the brute strength, but Manziel made some passes Newton can't make.

The pass he made to 84 in the Bama game to score 30 was a pass not many QBs can make. His field vision was crazy good.

Agreed. Vick was a man child. I'd have him above Manziel

He might be the best player I've ever seen in my lifetime in CFB.

Cam went JUCO. He was a junior. So by your logic I should discount his accomplishments.

Borderline top 10

ETA:

I take that back. He wasn't even the best player on Texas A&M's offense in his 2 years, so there's no way he is close to top 10

I would take both Newton and Tebow over him any day of the week and that's the last 10 years for all 3, so no.

Cam, easily. The fact that he is an NFL MVP while Manziel and Tebow busted out of the NFL on a few years is proof of that

You're right. Not many players can just throw it up and let Mike Evans go get it.

Manziel could have been a model citizen and still would have failed in the NFL.

No..I'm just responding to you trying to claim that his accomplishments should count for more since he was a freshman (which he wasn't even a true freshman).
